I know you guys all know about the pandemic going on, yaknow... Unless you somehow live under a rock...
But did you know there's something you can do to help fight it?
And I'm not talking about washing your hands and staying indoors, that's important too.
But there's a program called
Folding@home. Now I'm not a biologist. I don't really know how it works more than the basics.
Although, the technical side of things is quite interesting.
Basically. You donate your computer to do protein folding simulations while you're not using it, or maybe even while you are.
I know in the last couple of months, so many people joined, that their servers couldn't handle the data being uploaded to them.
And the combined processing power of the distributed compute network exceeded the top 7 supercomputers in the world combined, at over an exaflop.
That's insane!
All you need to do is install a small app, join a team(optional[246305 if you're trash like me]) and start folding.
