My computer seems to have died. Was watching YouTube then everything freezes. I force a restart and fans cone on but nothing else. No screen, no input, no light on WiFi card. Some power to USB ports but nothing else. Got to wonder if it's Worth trying to find out what went wrong. PC is old now and only turns on once a year when I'm home. Probably just going to have to go through the rest of my visit without it.

The power lights come on but no hard drive light. Although I think I heard the hard drive spinning. Even if it didn't I should get the BIOS screen right, so I guess it's the motherboard. But I don't know.

Well I went out and bought new RAM that fits what the motherboard takes (DDR3, 4gb max) which was massively overpriced. Also there is something else about it that is wrong so in the end it turns out the PC won't use it anyway... Before that I go removing all the different pieces and putting them back and checking all sorts of combinations until suddenly it boots with one of the old ram sticks (turns out I had 2x 2gb). Then it works with the other one too! Now I'm back to the exact old configuration, minus a bunch of dust and the cover of my GPU which was half fallen off but with an expensive stick of excess RAM... Oh, and after starting up again it decided there was a problem with my Wi-Fi card so now I'm using my phone Wi-Fi and tethering it to my PC. x.x

The RAM probably lost contact. Reseating it fixed it.

No. This is my desktop. That's been sitting in the same place for years. And there are two sticks. Surely even if one lost contact the other one would still work.
