wow! that's some mad ninja sculpting skills you have right there! you wouldn’t perhaps do figureens n stuff too?

O_o also i'm rather surprised that Rakuen hasn’t carted this thread off to the "Fursuits, Accessories and Clothing" section yet... normally he loves moving stuff around to better categorize them. i hope he isn't ill or something.

you should! you would be awesome at it! if you can shape poofy spongy stuff like that i bet you can make some crazy pretty stuff from a slightly more rigid substance too.

Sometimes I don't bother to fix minor annoyances. Sometimes I just haven't read there yet. More interesting and more active threads get more attention.

@NikNak

Depends on what you want

a Full suit would be around R10,000

parcial would be around R7,000+

A head around R5,000

(It mostly depends on material costs (Shipping for material) and the complexity.

Some that's harder will take allot of effort and time, so also raising the price since I need to make a profit for my work ^-^ But don't hesitate to pm me and I can send you my phone number and talk about designs. I am finishing up with my current commission and will open when it's done!

WIll be taking only one commission per time...makes it better on me. (SInce I am a fashion student from next year!)

You can easily pay $2-3k or more for a suit from a US maker. I've priced suits at up to $4.5k. R10k is relatively cheap.

If you feel enterprising enough, you could always do what I did and build it yourself. :) It takes a lot of time, but is much cheaper and very rewarding.

I try to keep it as cheap as I can, But if you want ugly fur and a fast ugly base. Then I am not the person to commission...

It takes allot of time, allot of work and you even get hurt during all this (Hot glue burns)
Fur alone is very expensive about R300-R400pm shipping also super expensive... I use very strong high quality foam, (I paid a R1000 for my last sheet.) All the other materials I use to make the suit adds up.....(Also for those who love silicone or plastic noses or teeth, I still need to buy the products to make all of that.)

Before I made commissions super cheap and the last head I made I had to use my own money about R3000 extra to finish my commission, so I think that's not fair! And I am only 20 years old (Does not make it easier on me.)

I don't want to make a living out of this. I want to help people here who can't make suits or buy or afford a suit from the uk and shipping costs....

(Note: Allot of the things I am trying to do, I barely get any cash in return regardless of all the time I put in! And still trying to ship in fur for a fur shop all with cash I am trying to make out of commissions.)

So please stop being ugly to me Raven, I am getting pretty tired of all your rude comments, You never have anything nice to say about my posts.

Thanks to all that understand how expensive fursuit making can get, And for those who did not know, maybe it gives an idea. Ill try and put together all my slips or future slips to show you how much all the materials cost.

Again I put allot of work in my suits to make it better and better every time, eg putting lining in new heads, making tails lighter... adding led's and more! These take days and hours and patience to make especially if you want good results and a good quality suit...

For any questions about my suits don't hesitate to ask, I will answer you asap!

Thank you! <3

Woah woah woah! I'm sorry but did you not just see me say you were talented???

Maybe you misunderstood me but what I meant was that thanks to the high costs of everything, it makes it super hard for people to commission people AS TALENTED AS YOU.

Living in London I see how easy it is for people here to make suits, and then I always work it back to SA Rands and remind myself how tough it is for people back home, and why I admire people like you, Leeward and Yote.

My only query is howcome Yote and Leewards suits don't cost them R10 000.

But I did not once say a mean thing to you in this thread.

In fact I was the fur who told NikNaks to come talk to you!

My apologies then ^-^ Probably just came across that way.

Well I used to buy fur here in small shops (Material shops in Benoni, Dubai and another one I think Yote got his from.)

Sadly by time I learned that that fur is not really good for fursuits, for the fur is way too long, wavy or poor quality.

I now order fur in from china or from UK (A fur brand that sells to UK companies.)

It would be cheaper then R10,000 But if you had to count all the things together it does get to a very large number. plus the hours I put into it.

The one tail I made cost a R1000 Out of it I only got R250 out of it. does not even cover the petrol that I had to drive around so much to find the desired fur. not to mention vinyl Spykes and teeth!

I think the biggest cost that gets sort of forgotten here is the sheer amount of time and effort it takes. That's why making your own suit is far cheaper. Sure if I think purely in terms of material costs my entire suit has cost me about 2-3k altogether (so far), but in terms of hours I could have spent earning money or relaxing, that cost quickly increases in order of magnitude. I don't mind in the least though, because I had so much fun and learned so much in the process. I wouldn't charge anyone for more than the materials for my work just yet though, since I'm still experimenting with techniques and such. That said, I would be happy to start taking such "commissions" for practice.
