Gotta agree with Splicer, people can have very different ideas on worth, I know people who drive brand new Ferrari's but live in crappy apartments, but to them a flashy car is much more meaningful than a nice house.
Besides Anthrocon isn't exactly a small event either, it could be a real highlight for you.
