Experimental Fursuit Making

Busy experimenting with trying to make my own fursuit head piece while I wait for my commissioned one to be made. Yeah I know it is a bit counter intuitive, but it gives me an appreciation on how hard it is to do and what effort the artist is putting into it.

With that said here is some progress photos, any tips are welcome.

I am obviously 3D printing the base, from a design I bought on cults3d. I am using TPU filament for the ears, to make them more squishy, and flexible. The rest is PLA.

My plan is to use only black fur, to make a "black" wolf and going with a realistic look.

Finished printing the tongue.

Now to find casting silicone somewhere to see if I can make it out of silicone so that it os squishy.

Covered the teeth in resin so I can paint them easier and have a smooth surface. :3

Also started adding foam to the head piece too.

Frikken finally found a 50mm sphere I can make a mould of, since apparently there is a severe lack of 50mm half sphere moulds... Why must making realistic eyes with resin be so complicated D:

I just hope this 50mm ball bearing ball can be casted to a negative with rubber or silicone.

Finally made some moulds for the eyes! Now to see if I can actually make them...

The moulds still need a washing though.

They are only 50mm :D


Also designed and printed some nice TPU ears, the TPU should allow the ears to be a bit flexible and squishy.

Finally got eyes I am happy with and locked in to use.

Also started the shaving of the fur before the glueing to base!
