I am afraid I do not yet have a full-body reference for my dinosona. However, I have drawn a portrait of him which I will use in the meantime (all art is by me, and hence is copyrighted. No stealing, please! ;D)

Nice! also we don't steal art here. There are a hell of a lot of artists on this site so we all (as far as I know) respect the whole "My Art, no touchy" rule.

Because it's the decent thing to do.

*In a Judge Dredd voice* I am the Law!
(Copyright is an inherent legal right for the creator of any intellectual property the moment it is created and presented in complete tangible form. It is not applied for. ;D ... Or, at least, that is my current understanding of it.)

In any case, let us not drift too far off-topic.

Actually, fursona art is not copyright in most countries. You can claim ownership of the idea of the fursona, but artwork etc can be "stolen" because there is no actual protection on it. America is one such place.

RavenSong has issued a challenge to StargazingSerpent.
RavenSong has used fallacious argument!
It is not very effective!

Just kidding. ^-^ (Don'tKillMe). Oh, Raven... If this continues, you and I are going to establish a reputation for dragging every topic... well, off-topic. ;D

However, I must respond:
I do not believe there is a legal distinction between "fursona art" and art in general - all are licensed as creative works (the only significant distinction made is in films). I will consent with you on the fact that art theft is remarkably easy, but that is not because there is no protection against it without registration. Rather, such protection exists immediately upon the presentation of the intellectual property, in this case the concept depicted by the artwork, as a complete resource. Copyright registration is merely to put it on record in case a legal dispute should arise in court, and even that cannot be done with simple artwork.
To substantiate my claim, I quote from the Companies and Intellectual Properties Commission [1]:

"Generally a person who has written, printed, published, performed, sculpted, painted, filmed or recorded a work, is automatically the owner of the copyright to that work. Sometimes, when a person has been commissioned and paid to do a particular piece of work, the copyright belongs to the employer.

For most works (except for films) it is not possible to apply for copyright protection as it automatically exists."

Hence, theft of fursona is indeed a crime against copyright. However, it is of the same degree as pickpocketing: very low-level, almost unimportant, and not an issue that is usually presented at court-level. Yet, in theory, it is illegal.

...

...

Wait, do you hear that?

...

It is the sound of Valerion coming to hunt us down for going off-topic!

Quick! Someone post 'sona art! D: If no-one else can, in my next post I shall upload some old artwork of my dinosona.

I love your portrait StargazingSerpent. I especially like the detail around the eyes.

This is my ref I did a little over a year ago, haven't done much drawing since but that will change soon. :)

Thank you, sir!

I particularly like your anthro eference. I am impressed - it looks as though we have talented artists in the community! Your attention to masculine anatomy is excellent (it seems many artists struggle with drawing digitigrade anthropomorphic 'sonas due to its tricky transition at the lower legs, yet you drew it very well. Of course, for me, personally, no anatomy is as nightmarish to draw as human hands).

May I ask what graphics program you use?

Hi Azure

Thanks a lot! I appreciate the compliments. The legs were particularly tricky and it took a lot of trial and error, plus a lot of studying of other talented artists' works and how they approach digitigrade legs.

The graphics program I used was Adobe Photoshop CS6. I don't use that many tools though so I could probably get by on lighter applications.

Now, if VL did one for Tocs, how would it look different?

Tocs is cyan and grey.

So the inner color will move to the outside, and be replaced by gray. What else?

The eyes are a different colour and the nose glows, IIRC. Why are you making a big deal out of it? It's not like your fursona is so different from Adagio's.
