Welcome to Raventorials...

Tutorials by... well... me!

That's right folks, I think it's about time I pretend I know what I'm doing and show people how I do art.

So Raventorial 1 is line art from a traditional sketch...

The schedule will be:

Raventorial 2 - Colouring that line art
Raventorial 3 - Shading and highlighting
Raventorial 4 - How to create a sketch without traditional first
Raventorial 5 - The overlaying of textures... because why not...

and then I'll think about it and await suggestions...

So, here's the tut!!!

Only tangentially related to this.

Raven, what do you think is the feasibility of a cooperative art piece with some of the other furs? There's some amazing talent here, it could result in something really cool.

what sort of co-op piece?

My biggest issues are:
Time
My inability to accept criticism (we've all seen that in action :P)
my inability to artistically work with other people (I mean in real life I'm amazing at team work... when it come to art or singing I seem to fail miserably :P)

But these are all poor excuses...

I would possibly one day... maybe...

it was really cool. I think the end product turned out really well, and I liked both the before (your own spin) and the after (corrections from Kirtaro).

It's good to be flexible as an artist (I'm working on being more flexible. I pull muscles otherwise)

So here is a quick tut on 3/4 faces. It's short and simple. I'll do a video on it sometime:

That's actually quite helpful!

I'm terrible at drawing even tried it like that, there is a book in the flat entitled "How to draw furries". They teach the exact same method.
I'm assuming Raven has read such like books, or did you learn to art through some other form?

i have read such things but I also took art in grade 8 and 9 so I learned a lot of my technique there. the rest is developed by watching speed paints on you tube... a great way to learn shading techniques.

finally I spent a lot of time at malls and museums watching people and doing live drawings, I had to develop quick techniques for that and the circle method is a great on the go way of getting down shape and proportion fast.
