New cover for my phone

#1

Post by Randall »

This is my little evening project to make my phone's cover look better.

Here is the artwork I did in Corel Draw:

This is the print:

This is the print cut out

The print is hot-laminated

The extraneous plastic is cut off, with around 0.8mm all round, the window for the camera is also cut out.
Image

Adhesive is applied

The finished result- the back of my phone

The front of my phone

Neat! My phone has a transparent cover so I might just make one that I can slip between it and the phone.

Thanks, that would work even better.
If I could get a transparent one without being ripped in excess of R600 for it... whenever Apple is involved they see you as a bag of money coming... :?

And that's why, immediately after getting a 4th gen iPod Nano, I lost all interest in Apple. I spent R100 on a tempered glass screen protector and R150 on a plain transparent rubber casing for my Huawei P8 Lite.

I got this one for R120 at Look&Listen, and it came with a plastic screen protector.
I think it was on sale though, normal price was R150

Printed it on paper, laminated it, like I do for other technical uses, it holds up pretty well.

LOL thanks, but I never considered myself any good...

FWIW, this technique comes from electronics. This is how we make front panels for prototype/demo/proof-of-concepts of products.

Interesting, I had no idea. I just always thought I was doing my own things, and came up with my own methods.

well I don't think we did it exactly like you. I mean the layout in corel looks very similar to the way we worked in graphics.

but as I have not seen yours in action, I doubt its EXACTLY the same :P

Thanks for the suggestion of a clear cover. It works the best and I can change the contents with my moods.

I like how that's a spoiler but you can't tell it's a spoiler until you've seen it up to that point. XD

Like Dave said, it's for two tickets. At the IMAX. In 3-D.

Come to the US, then you will understand what an expensive movie ticket is.
$25 dollars for 3 people; no 3D, no IMAX. And then we spent an extra $17 on snacks / sodas.

Well, there you get paid in dollars, so it isn't really comparable.
I mean, the average security guard there gets paid a month, what I'll make a year as an engineer in South Africa...
