I think the fangs make it less creepy (for me, at least). It's a cat, so you'd expect it to have fangs like that. It makes sense, you know? It feels natural. That creepy-ass motherfucker Totoro, on the other hand... it just feels
off. The stubby teeth don't feel right. It's like it's hiding something... or trying to appear less dangerous than it actually is. The whole character gives me that vibe. It's like every aspect of its being is designed to lie to the audience, to hide its nefarious intentions underneath a superficial cloak of derpy cuteness. I look at it and I can't help but wonder, "What is that thing
really thinking? What is it
really after?"
It keeps me up at night, it does...
