Re: Puzzles & Riddles !
Thank you, Bjorn. That was an excellent riddle that you posted.

I suppose it is my turn, again. Let me try something a little less cumbersome:
I have in my hand four cards. Their number or rank does not matter; only their suits. Each of the four is from a different suit: I have a heart, a club, a spade and a diamond.
I ask you to close your eyes. While you cannot see, I lay down the four cards, face-down so that their identities cannot be seen, on a table in front of you. I then ask you, please, to open your eyes.
Smiling, I provide the following clues as to their positioning:
"The spade is next to the club, but not next to the heart.
The diamond is the rightmost card.
The diamond is not next to the club.
The heart is not the leftmost card.
Now, may I ask you, please, to pick up the club?"
Assuming that the cards, as they are, are numbered 1 to 4 from left to right, which number card do you pick up?

Re: Puzzles & Riddles !
Correct! Well done, Leeward! I shall have to be more wary of you when playing card games with you...
Re: Puzzles & Riddles !
It's logic, you could have used any other 4 unique tokens or categories.
Okay I'm making this one up, I hope it works... it requires some prior knowledge, but I can't reveal of what without giving it away.
Similar in all but thickness, one is a stage full of characters, while the other can fork through the eye of a needle. What are we?

Re: Puzzles & Riddles !
Thread and string? String is used on marionette dolls and puppets, which feature on shows and "stages". String tends to be thicker than thread.
Re: Puzzles & Riddles !
String and thread are the correct answer.
In programmer lingo, a string is a sequence of characters (i.e. letters, numbers, symbols, etc.) and a thread is an independently running part of a process, which one can create by "forking" an existing process into two.
I played on "character" (symbol vs. person) as a red herring.

Re: Puzzles & Riddles !
I see. Well, thankfully, a correct answer is still correct even if the context in which it was given is not.
Thank you for the riddle, Leeward. It was great!
I am relatively certain that people have had enough of me as riddler, so I shall pass on this round. If someone wishes to post a riddle or puzzle, please feel free to do so!

Re: Puzzles & Riddles !
I had to re-read the riddle with that answer in mind, and it puts the former in a whole new perspective...
Okay, here is my puzzle - a quick, simple one:
Okay, here is my puzzle - a quick, simple one:
On my wall, there hangs a clock. The battery has died and the clock has stopped - it is thus frozen at twenty-five minutes past two. If I were to turn the clock upside down and then turn it around (back-to-front) - assuming it is partially transparent and I can see the hands from behind - what would my reading of the time now be, if I read it in the same way as I normally do (that is, 12 at the top, 6 at the bottom, etc.)?
