My profile post counter says I have 988 posts (as I post this, now 989).
Yet if you search through my posts, you get 967 results. Why the difference? Have I just discovered a way to count how many posts I deleted?

There's that whole debate about "the nature of sexuality" that veered into the NotToBeDiscussed territory that got removed, but iirc the admins don't ever really delete the posts, just make them invisible to non admins.
So all your 'removed posts' should cover the disparity (unless personally deleting some puts it in the same limbo, idk)

As Faan said, we don't actually delete posts, just move them elsewhere. That way things can be reversed, if needed. So this is likely the case.

Haha, I know. I meant those I myself deleted, not those that were removed by the staff.

Posts that you deleted if the editing time hadn't expired or that a moderator deleted because they were duplicates, do not count to your total. If I click on your current 990 total, I get "Search found 990 matches." They do all exist somewhere.
