Tablet device

I've been thinking lately. I've got an enormous amount of stuff in PDF and other e-book formats, and like to read them. However, I also like to lie in bed when I read, with a book in my paws. I like the format of a book. I can't really do this with my e-books, as I can't lug my PC to bed, and my cellphone's screen is too small. And I think a laptop/netbook would be awkward.

So I was thnking of aquiring a e-book reader. Preferably also something I can use to browse the net with in bed, since things are multi-function these days.

Wishlist:
  • Decent battery life
  • Decent storage space
  • Reasonably-sized screen
  • Easy to read on with my eyes
  • PDF support at a minimum
  • No DRM
  • Internet (web browsing, IM, etc)
What do you think?

Some ideas I came across:

The Archos 9 is a really awesome device. Comes with a stack of features and i'm sure it would see to your needs. Just double check the weight of it. AFAIK, the Archos 9 doesn't have any major DRM restrictions.

Would you use something like a netbook with a swivel screen, running windows 7?

I eventually got myself a Sony PRS 600. E-ink B/w screen. Good battery life. And if you use Calibre, you can convert any of the (non-DRM) formats it can't read itself.

Downside: Not available in SA.
