I was forced to upgrade this month, due to the south bridge on my old machine dying a slow and painful death. When it runs hotter than your GPU uder load you know there's a problem :P And the 3-times-a-day-BSoD isn't nice either. I initially wanted to wait until March-ish before doing this, but oh well ...

Kept my old 2TB HDD, PSU and GTX 260 from my previous machine.

New specs:
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V
RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x4GB, 1600MHz
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K
Case: Cooler Master Storm Enforcer

It's looking nice Splicer!

By the way, proper sound system? What do you mean? 'A nice designer box'?

Also you just need new CPU-cooling, and designer box... wat?

um ok?

But amount of speakers =/= quality.

I went from 5.1 -> headphones and I love the increase in quality, etc

And Fluke has been told not to post such huge pics like that in the future. It would also be very nice of Fluke to shrink the current large pics or attach them directly to the forum so they get automatically resized.

Well I have 3 computers I use. One desktop and two laptops.

First off my desktop has these stuff:
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300 2.6GHz, overclocked @ 3.0GHz
Motherboard: ASRock G41-MS
Memory: 1 x 2GB DDR2-800
Video Card: Inno3D nVidia GeForce GTX550Ti 2GB
PSU: 500W
Screen: Samsung SyncMaster 19" LCD
HDD: 500GB Seagate, 250GB Samsung (Giving problems), 160GB Samsung, 160GB Seagate (Failed), 80GB Maxtor, 80GB Seagate
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Speakers: Audionic S7 2.1 system
Peripherals: BTC Model 5199 and a crappy Logitech mouse

I don't use this thing very often anymore after I got my new laptop. But when I do use it, it's for storage or playing certain games. All my other computer tasks are done on my new Acer. I used to do my digital art on it, but the 2GB of RAM was rather limiting, and made completing highly detailed drawings a pain. (Which is the reason why one of my pictures never got done.) Plus it has the tendency to stop working at times!

My trusty Dell Inspiron 4100D
CPU: Intel Pentium-III 1GHz
RAM: 256MB SDR So-DIMM
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon 16MB
HDD: 60GB Seagate
Screen: 14.1" SXGA+ (1400x1050)
OS: Microsoft Windows XP and ArchLinux

This one's usually used for retro gaming, since it's 12 years old now. Sometimes emulation and virtual machines just don't cut it!
And for those who noticed the "D" I added after 4100, the D stands for "duct-tape", 'cause that's all that's holding this thing together! I bought it second-hand from someone, so a few things were broken or not working properly. The touchpad wasn't functional, the battery was pretty much dead and the right hinge was completely broken and missing. The touchpad was simply disconnected, so it was an easy fix. I couldn't do anything about the battery. I made a new "hinge" using duct tape, and that's been working fine for the last two years. I really really like my old Dell. It's like an assault rifle, you can take it apart with no effort (thanks to Dell's modular approach to making laptops at the time, and the fact that they didn't use these uncommon screws of today) and it's very durable. And it can play Half-Life!!

Oh, and my pride and joy, my "Silver-Fox" Acer Aspire V3-551G!
CPU: AMD A8-4500M Quad Core 2.8Ghz
RAM: 2x 4GB DDR3-1333 (Try filling that with a drawing program!)
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7640G + 7670M 2GB running in asymmetrical CrossFire
HDD: 1TB
Screen: 15.6" WXGA (1366x768)
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Ubuntu 12.10
Peripherals: Wacom Bamboo Fun S

This thing is awesome! It can play stuff like Far Cry 3, Battlefield 3 and pretty much anything else, and has enough RAM to handle PaintTool SAI and Photoshop, at the same time if need be! It's fast, portable and an effective gaming device, everything I want in a laptop! Plus it's black and silver!

Are there any games that use all the power we put in thees PC's?
I know the Total War series and Cry Engine pushes the requirements a bit.
But are there any games that are made for the hard core Gaming PC?

I think Minecraft and Skyrim can be modded to push the GFX.

I have a mod for minecraft that does help push a pc, yes. Optifine. Basically you can seriously boost the rendering distance, hehe, which really pushes things. Combine that with an explosive mod, and an HD texture pack, and you've really got something really resource demanding

I suppose the answer to that is what you want out of your game and whether you'd be willing to say you wasted money buying much more power than you needed? My PC doesn't have the best specs ever but I haven't ever not been able to play something. So what you need to ask yourself is whether you want a game that looks good or a game that uses all your PC's abilities. They are linked to a point of course but on the other hand if you code it badly you could probably make a really poor-quality game that sucks your machine dry. Personally I'd prefer having a game that was efficiently coded, looked amazing and left 60% of computer idle.

C'mon, boosting minecrafts render distance is totally not useless, and I think you can pretty much boost it as much as your pc can handle...
