Not really a poll. because I'm more interested in the type of things furries would like to see or do at a South Africa convention.

What type of activities would you like to see at a gathering such as the above mentioned?

On a serious Note:
Artists Ally
Talent Comp?
Gaming Zone - both under 18 and over 18
Fursuit or as close to that as possible Parade
Dance competition?
Cocktail Party?

On a "I've lost my mind" note:
Giant man eating monsters... because why not
Noms!!!
White T Shirt Mud Wrestling Contests (men and womens can join :P)
Hannibal Lector... I just really like Anthony Hopkins...

I have an idea that it would probably be best to keep the entire event all ages.
The world already take a dim view of any furry 18+ stuff.
Wouldn't want all the collective effort organising something like a furcon to be wasted because it gets a scandalous overtone.
Rather if it were kids and all ages friendly, hopefully that would help it to grow.

Just yesterday I read a description of yiffy sex as "people dressed in carpet samples crawling around in sleeping bags stuffed full of dragon dildos"
I admit that that made me giggle.

I know... but you should also know... I'm currently experiencing a mental and nervous breakdown which has taken all serious things within me and thrown them away.

  • Fast, free internet
  • Fast, free internet
  • Fast, free internet
Other than that:
  • Cricket, soccer, or at least 1 other team sport activity that doesn't involve full-body contact
  • Console LAN (Let those brave enough bring their consoles for local multiplayer action)
  • Body-motion consoles too: Kinect, Wii, Move, etc
  • Music performances - we have a few DJs, maybe even a band in our midst
  • Card games - poker, blackjack, for alcohol, money, tokens, or just fun
  • Board/tabletop games - suggested on the podcast last night, any multiplayer tabletop game
And then there are also team-based games that could be fun, stuff like:
  • Pictionary
  • Trivial Pursuit
  • Who wants to be a millionaire
Maybe the last one played for actual prizes :)

While it would probably be better for South Afrifur to be completely all ages that doesn't mean that the fandom should try sanitize itself or hide things to make others feel better about it. Some furs are adults and the furry fandom has a sexual side, if those two come together then there shouldn't be any need to hide it or pretend it doesn't exist. At times, it's good to for events to be clean but I'm also happy and encouraged when it's willing to embrace other sides as well. So I'm happy that a furry convention and BDSM dungeon could partner together to make an adults only furry event. https://dogpatchpress.wordpress.com/201 ... ld-things/ We are multifaceted creatures, let's not pretend otherwise.

Shouldn't we turn to other furry cons for inspiration? What do they mainly do at AnthroCon - other than dancing and wearing fursuits?

If you listen to some of the podcasts we are actually looking at and talking to some of the furs who were involved in or went to or are currently running a con somewhere. To an extent we intend to attempt to emulate a similar feel as camp feral. At least the sense of togetherness and fun they have.
