Re: Exotic pets
My mate has a large female chaco golden knee and I'm being given a fire leg soon. They are awesome animals.
If you take your marker and connect this dot to that one, that one to this one here you will get a really annoyed dalmatian.
The European Badger (meles meles) is known to have a rather large range of vocalisations, though it must be noted he often makes no sense at all.

Grammostola pulchripes and Brachypelma boehmei. Good choices; I had both of those.

I used to be like you, Raven, and then I took an urticating bristle to the knee.

I used to be very strict and pompous, staring vacantly at anyone who didn't use tax and label names.... got old really quick, especially with several species changing name on what seemed to be a weekly basis.
I still hold respect for those that know them.

Re: Exotic pets
Nah, see I was bitten by a sac spider when I was young, whilst trying to rescue it (oh how naïve I once was). Since then spiders and I have this mutual agreement going on. They stay the fuck away from me, and if they intrude I will let them go peacefully (or return them myself) but they DON'T LIVE IN MY HOUSE.

Re: Exotic pets
Carbon dioxide is cruel. Causes a burning pain and desperation. Carbon dioxide dissolves in your blood to form carbonic acid and the change in blood pH is what tells your body it needs to breath. In addition, if you've ever drank carbonated drinks and felt the burn you get from burping, that's due to the carbon dioxide.Badge wrote:My brother and myself buy pre killed rodents, specifically from companies that co2 chamber them for 2 reasons. the rodents death is not cruel and it makes it safer for the snakes as well.

Re: Exotic pets
Still better than the neck snapping spasm deaths that last for up to 30min. I have seen some brutal rat deaths, while I do agree , not cruel would be a lie, better than live feed or mechanical death.

Re: Exotic pets
I was about to say wouldn't carbon monocide be safer but then I realised the chemical changes in the blood would be bad for snooks...
I had a friend who's mother used to drown the rats. I hated it. I bred rats, I love them so much, I had a furless dumbo, she was my baby. I mean I also had a rare colour which I managed to breed and it became known as South African Rose which is pretty cool. there were only 10 in the Southern Hemisphere and the breeder I sold the two girls too sent an entire litter to London and the other day I saw a pup for sale with the same colour. I was so happy. My lifetime achievement
