I Googled too fast and didn't read properly... Ivan is originally Hebrew, and is generally a Slavic name (not Scandinavian). "Iwan" I'm guessing is the Afrikaans spelling of it (because "w" pronounced "v") but is not a known variant of Ivan, and is an Arabic word meaning a rectangular hall.

I'm searching for an old photo, and suddenly felt a rush of nostalgia flow through me, so I thought I'd post a few of my first pictures here....

Unfortunately I lost a lot of them, because unfortunately after being in storage for so long, the exposure to air perrished the poor CD's :P

There are a few photo's of me in here... I suppose it's my thread(It's called Adag's Photo's after all) so it'll be ok... If there are Ruled against this, I'll remove them...

Well firstly we have a photo of me biting into a delicious piece of cake(It was my 13'th birthday)... The reason I am posting it is to show ya guys where I went to school... That little building in the background, yes... It was boiling in the summer and freeing in the winter, it flooded(Really FLOODED you don't understand, 2 or 3cm deep usually) when it rained and the noise was deafening, also the roof leaked... Almost everybody worked on computers, so when it flooded everybody had to pick them up and put them on their tables, I luckily had an old laptop to work on...

Image

This was my cat... Not really, but she adopted me... She was there when I was having a hard time, and I cant tell you how sad I was when she died... I didn't really have friends at school since there were like 10 kids there...

Image

This was probably the coolest dog ever! She was very old, and ultimately died of old age... I can't really remember, because I was too young, but my dad usually tells people about how when we were little we would go to the dam, and she would stand between us to keep us from falling in...

Image

I think I mentioned a few times we used to have a guest house... This was the restaurant we had for the guests. It was incredibly hard work, often we went to bed at 02:00 in the mornings because we couldn't afford a manager and make a profit... so we closed it down...

Image
Image

One of our dogs had puppies(on my sister's birthday of all days, ironic because it was her dog)
and we kept two of them.

Rimpels and Leeu. Two sisters, lounging on a couch...
Image

Rimpels was mine... I got her shortly after my cat died...
Image

Shortly after that, she became ill, but she got better, only to catch an incurable disease at the vet, and ultimately, after she turned 3 months and a day, we had to put her down...

Image

I promise I didn't mean to make it sound this sad when I started...

It's so amazing :o...
For the most part, it is pointless to be sad in life.
Because sad spelt backwards is das

The moon! Yes! Very!
The picture... Nope... The lens is busted... I don't know why, but autofucus NEVER works... With closeups, it works brilliantly! But with anything more than a hundred meters away... It blurs... I tried playing with the appature, to get it better... To no avail...

It's probably my fault... I bought it broken, and tried to repair it... Disassembled the whole thing...

It is definitely broken... The zoom ring's stub broke off... But it IS a telemacro lens... I don't know... Maybe?? It's a Tamron 300mm Telemacro (1:2) 62mm ∅

"Calf" is gender-neutral.
Also you clearly didn't get the reference.

I know that. It just "looked" male to me, not sure why.

Also, you clearly didn't get the joke.
