Who remembers this anime?
its called "mew mew power" or if you watched the non-dubbed version it would be called "Tokyo mew mew" i have to admit that i have watched almost no animes, but this one stuck in my memory for years. i might be wrong, which means don't hold me to this next statement think i saw this on TV back in 2005 or so.
depending on your definition of "furry" this show does have some semi-furry elements.
anyway i used to have a major crush on the pink haired kitty back when i was a kid.
downloading it now and looking forward to watching it again. has anyone else seen this or remember watching this?

Heard of it but never watched it.

Re: Who remembers this anime?
Characters with animal ears like the ones in Tokyo Mew Mew are often referred to as "Kemonomimi", and they're quite common in anime. Just off the top of my head, there are shows like Bakemonogatari, Spice and Wolf, Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki, High School DxD, Inuyasha, and many more, all of them containing at least one kemonomimi.
If you're looking for an anime with semi-furry elements a bit more prominent than simple ears and tails, you might like Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou. It's super ecchi, though, so you should probably stay away if you're not into that.
On the other end of the spectrum there is Samurai Pizza Cats, which has a cast of characters comprised entirely of anthropomorphic animals, but it's mostly for kids.

Re: Who remembers this anime?
@contrast, like i said i have watched very few animes. so i don't know and was never inclined to research those "kemonomimi" but thanks for the info *the more you know*. and wow there are wayyyy more animes than i though. i've never even heard of any of those.
as for animes with furry aspects i never watched this one for the strictly furry aspects. i didn't even know i was furry at the time, but thinking back i do believe this anime had more influence on me than i first realized. like they say hindsight is 20/20

Re: Who remembers this anime?
That anime is actually some of the reason I found the fandom.
I was in love with Rene, the purple haired wolf girl. I was so upset that they never made more of it...
I loved Mew Mew Power.

Re: Who remembers this anime?
@RavenSong. yeah i also believe this anime had a furry influence on me. i was in love with Zoe, the pink kitty. watched episode 1 and 2 last night. now i know exactly why. she is just too cute for words. especially during her little dance:
*mew mew style*
*mew mew grace*
*mew mew power in your face*
also did you watch all 52 episodes or just the 26 English dubbed ones?

Horrifically cheesy, but somehow still endearing. I never watched that many episodes, but I do have good memories of that show.

well then you'll be happy to know there are another 26 episodes. but unfortunately they're only English subbed. the dubbed ones ended at 26.RavenSong wrote:I only ever watched the English dubbed ones, because at the time that was all I had access too, so I suppose I shall has to go look up the rest!

Re: Who remembers this anime?
I remember mew mew power it was a really good series its a shame they had to stop the English dub and in my opinion they went of course in the English version in some episodes completely altering certain scenes. the subtitle one was great. I also got my love for cats from this one hehe.

Re: Who remembers this anime?
@RavenSong well i know most people can read but you might have the same problem i have with subbed versions. meaning...
It's not the language, i really don't mind reading subtitles, in all honesty i love subtitles. i even read the subtitles of shows that are already English in audio. i just don't like the original voices (not the English voices). they sound... wrong.
@Kink it was good. if it was bad i wouldn't remember it all these years. oh ok never knew they did that. maybe i should watch the subbed version or find a comparison lis, just to see what they changed.

Dubs change many things for western audiences, often for censorship purposes. I never watched Sailor Moon, but they censored several plot lines and made use of heavy editing to cut out a lesbian relationship between two of the main characters.Kirtaro wrote:maybe i should watch the subbed version or find a comparison lis, just to see what they changed.
