It's furry in the same sense that Star Wars is sci-fi because of the spaceships and technology. The intention is irrelevant. BDSM doesn't make something porn, it would be porn because it contains explicit sex.

But even non-porno movies sometimes contain explicit sex, so what's the distinction?

The focus and role it plays. I'm not familiar with non-porn movies with explicit but I'd bet that the sex is not the focus or point of the movie, while pornos are all about the sex, and that while there are sex scenes they are only a minor part of the movie while for pornos the sex will be going on for the majority of the time. Like there are people driving cars in Jurassic World but it's not a driving movie. The cars are not the focus and aren't in the majority of the screentime. That would be in contrast with The Fast And The Furious movies where driving is a major focus of the movie.

The thing is that most movies are open to interpretation. As furs we will most likely decide the film is furry and is made with us in mind. regardless of whether or not it was.

Like I said in the podcast, whether the film is furry or not should be based on the content. It doesn't matter what the intention was, who was involved in making it or who it was made for.

Sci-Fi Horror

Same with:

Event Horizon
Species
The Thing

etc...

Yes, I know that. I was saying that it's obviously sci-fi, and to think otherwise would just be stupid.

Zootopia is equally so a furry film. So are Robin Hood, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Fantastic Mr. Fox.

They are furry films to us. To non furry people they are not.

Just because Jollyjack and VivziePop draw anthro animals and have comics revolving around them does not make them furs.

It doesn't make sense to say a film is furry to some people and not furry to others. Either it is furry or it is not. Just because you don't laugh at a movie doesn't mean it's no longer a comedy.

No one said drawing furs makes someone a fur but drawing furs does make the artwork furry.

what im trying to say is we are going to refer to it as a furry film.

My sister however will not.

Because she isnt part of the furry community.

She refers to it as an animation.

Because to her thats all it is.

Yay. Thanks guys. I don't really come to this subsection much and now I don't know much about anything anymore....
.... is a music video with sign language actually just a story for the hearing impaired or just a song for the blind?

Very subjective on the "all your faves" also, notice that some of the characters don't necessarily have the best name choices. Note that the one guy is called Finnick...a fennec...like...really...?

Well non-furs are now saying Zootopia is aimed at furs: https://www.inverse.com/article/8928-di ... h-zootopia

Not happy about everything written there but still interesting reading.

Considering how sensationalistic that could have been...

It was well researched and well considered. I hold nothing against the author of that article.
