Discovery channel-Forbidden

Post by James Howard »

While in Thailand, I saw an advert for a new series called forbidden, one of the topics is the Furry Fandom as well as many others.

I got this from the discovery website, so far it's only been aired in Asia

Looks a bit like the series "Taboo". But a bit more positive. I'd watch it

They always focus on the fur-suiters.
There is more about it than that. :(

They should go to all of us, not just the fursuiters.

Bah, the media circus is only concerned with ratings. Things aren't as controversial when the people look 'normal'

Furries are easy targets, the media see a lot of potential to stir something up from them, its t.v. and as we would like to show how amazing our fandom is, there are some bad furries, in any fandom there's always that one side..so its perfect for the media.

Iv seen ssooo many documentary's and more on furries with t.v ..so far, only one of them being good xD
Yes it is true ^^, i was passed through this odd configuration of a human and for many years have pondered..believed that i am a therion, but i lurk in this furry fandom for it is a good way to stay close to my fox corporeal *giggles* so my "sojourn" is an aeon ^,..,^

I haven't, we'll maybe an appearance or something where the documentary focuses on something else.

The only time I've ever seen furries on TV was on an episode of "Cheaters."
They were inside this underground sex orgy dungeon thing with raw steaks hanging from hooks on the ceiling (I kid you not). There were all kinds of people and fetishists there, like infantalists, masochists and dominatrix... es? Dominatri? (What the hell is the plural for dominatrix? o_O)
But anyway, there were also a whole bunch of fursuiters in there.
Not sure what to make of that. I was pretty surprised when they popped up.

Agreed, porn and drama both form important parts of the furry fandom

keeping an eye out for it, but honestly, i dont care if they give furries a bad name, sure it would be nice if they did, but the people i care about know what "furry" is, and thats all that matters, no need to let a show or media represent us *bucks shoulders as i roll my eyes*

Wait, what? You actually want furries to get a bad name? Or did you mean to say "nice of they didn't"? o_O

As if furries or any geek-sub-culture ISN'T ridiculed by the mass-media. There is no way people want to watch a programme about things they dislike and seeing the programme taking pity or understanding on it. Views count. (MASS media, think about your strict-thinking grand-parent or jock-stereotype that is all too endorsed in RSA).

Heck, even the least different sub-cultures are ridiculed by most

I believe that's from "Lucky Star", but I could be wrong. I see many pictures of it circulating through the internet, but I haven't watched any.

Lucky star... if my sis wants to torture me, she plays the theme song. I'm really not a fan. But my sis is. She's got a not too bad Konata (that's that chicks name, right?) Cosplay.

How does a thread about the possible misrepresentation of furries in documentaries suddenly derail into a topic about Lucky Star cosplay?

She did the cosplay at rage last year. Aparently she's in the November NAG (a friend told her like yesterday). Downloading it now to check for myself

Edit: so, checked the November NAG. Not even a mention of rAge in it... confusion

Contrast is right. Keep it on topic. Furry documentary stuff.

Rakuen has shown me a few of these documentaries before, so hopefully this one will cover something new. Also Fluke your avatar could probably cause quite a few skull fractures with that that clunky Model M keyboard.

i remember before i knew what the furrie fandom was , watching an episode of taboo and in witch they showed the lifestyle of furies but there was almost no bad point of views given and ill be honest i thought dressing up in a fursuit, drawing anthro pictures and walking in public in a fursuit was very very weird, and i wold never do that... funny how that turned out  and i am as happy as can posibly be
