personally I got my first taste of furrydom back in the good old glory days of Bravestarr. 30-30 is teh smex. I want to know, if a tv series or movie introduced you to the concept of anthros and furries, what it was and why?

For me it was the Lion king 1 and 2 and I still watch them from time to time on my computer

Digimon also influenced me a bit. It was the first season with Leomon. when I saw him i went "He is awsome I want to be like him!" I also liked weregarurumon

I think it started with Disney's Robin Hood and then later on the Fox and the Hound.
As a kid i can remember pretending to be a anthro-fox and drawing them too.
I also remember a nightmare i had when i was 10 about me being a fox kit. (I know it is weird.)

In my childhood i was exposed to allot of antromorphic shows and books line Buzzy Town, Braken Jan and later on Poke'mon and Digimon.
There are so many I can recall now but I can't remember half of their names.

Here are some i am suddenly remember! O_O
The Secret of NIMH http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwNfsLwQBhM (not many people now of this, possibly cause it has some dark scenes. O_O)

Well I dont know exactly when i went from just liking the anthros to preferring them,
I just know i used to love Tom and Jerry,
The lion king was great but my older sister literally watched it everyday for about 2 months so i got sick of that,
Then lion 2 i loved, mostly cause of Kovu as a cub.
I was(and still am) inlove with pokemon though, one of the few things me and my sister share,
Earlier this year we even fished out our pokemon videos and I got the video set up just to watch them
lets see, treasure planet also was epic, i brought the video player to my room for that movie,
and just btw splicer, we have N.I.H.M. 2
no one likes it though
If the world's at large, why should I remain

I Loved Robin Hood! I whached it every day. The Fox and the Hound was also a big part in my anthro involvement... I Immediately liked Zakumi, and Bolt IS AWSOME!

If it wernt for Bolt i would still be obblivious to the furry fandom....

While I agree to everything stated above, with me there was one thing that eclipsed them all as an anthro influence for me.....

You've never heard of Redwall? I've got practically an entire shelf of Redwall books and about four or five I still have to read.

I remember Bravestar!! OMG I loved Bravestar. I still have a few shows on VHS lying somewhere in a box!!! WOW! I wish I could get the shows again in digital format, I think that show was made using state of the art for that day, thinking about it music wise!

I can't really say that any specific movie or show influenced me, I have just been a fan of Anthro characters all my life. Growing up in the early 90's my mom always recorded all kids shows on VHS and that was what I kept watching all my life as a kid, and there where a few of them shows airing during that time, especially when Afrikaans TV was still big and so on. I remember a few shows featuring Anthros that had a Afrikaans dub too, one of them (though much later) was called "Sylvan" (see the thread in the movies topic). But I mean there where a few floating about: Brakenjan and some afrikaans version of puss in boots.

Anyway, took fancy in the show if the main character was a wolf or fox though hehe :)

I totally remember that movie! We had it on tape, and I used to watch it over and over again! My favourite scene was the one with the spider. Great animation!
I also remember Bravestar. "Speed of the PUMA...! Puma... puma..."
Biker mice from Mars, too. And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, of course, but none of these sparked my furriness. That happened only weeks ago, when I saw Felicia from "Darkstalkers". The seed may have whithered and died eventually, but then I found some pics of Crystal Starfox. That's when I knew I was a furry.

I can honestly say i liked all these shows and series ^^, cept the ones like bravestar that i was too young to ever have watched of course :D, i always did like fuzzy characters (gogo bambi 30 veiws from age 4-6 xD)

I think it was more books that got me into it though cant remember all the names of course as its been ages but sorta like dragons from eragon series, age of fire and the like. golden compass was sorta cool with the familiars and i think somethin called the Oaken throne. way to many books i need to re lend from the library methinks

Another Balto fan! Loved that video, especially loved the scenes with the northern lights (that was my first exposure to them, and snow).

Read / watched many books and videos that planted the seed, many of them I wouldn't even remember, but one that does come to mind is the Eaglesmount Trilogy; (If any of you remember this, you're awesome :P)

Always loved that cover, never knew why though.

But I think what the turning point was, was the movie Princess Mononoke, I'm not quite sure why though.

Hey, did anyone ever watch an old tv series called "The Dreamstone"? I'm Googling old shows I used to watch as a kid and this sprung to mind. My mind has just been blown while looking at the wikipedia article....the protagonist Rufus, was once played (They switched actors between series) by a 12 year old Christian Bale!

Brakenjan (AKA Dogtanian / Wanwan Sanjushi )
Animaniacs
Tail Spin (Allmost forgot about this -_-; sorry)
Lady and the Tramp
All Dogs go to heaven

Funny thing is I wanst really interested in the disney movies (except the ones listed above) when growing up, they never really inspired me to be a furry, but after I found my furryness I started rewatching all of them and enjoying most of them , but then again I am a bit of a odd-ball

As a kid it was mostly, Star Trek, X-Men,TMNT, Spiderman, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, none of those are really furry, except xmen, I really admired beast, but that was because he was a scientist, and I cant really count it as he was probably the only main furry character in the whole thing.

Does anybody remember Bucky O'Hare? Ugly as sin, in my opinion, but I vaguely remember a female character in there somewhere that might have been easy on the eyes... but it was so long ago she's nothing more than a grey blur to me now...
