Best movies that you have seen?
I am interested to see what people thought what was the best movie(s) that they have seen?
For me, I have a few that I really loved.
I liked the classic movie, Casablanca which was an awesome movie that kept you fixed to the screen for the whole feature length of the film. A must watch!
Then there would be Fight Club which is a recent film that is very entertaining and untraditional movie to watch.
Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino, Pulp Fiction and Silence of the Lambs would also receive honourable mentions from me as well!
Post away!
Cheers, Red.

Re: Best movies that you have seen?
I don't think I've seen a single one that you mentioned. Can't think of a really good movie now and I haven't seen one lately. Saw The Reaping yesterday. Wasn't particularly good at all.

Re: Best movies that you have seen?
I'm not really a movie buff, and my choice in movies often get me laughed at ( ). I much prefer a good book over a movie, but I'll give it a shot. In no particular order, my fav movies are:
Under a Tuscan Sun
French Kiss
Grumpy Old Men
Any James Bond movie starring Pierce Brosnan
Sister Act
Twister
Jurassic Park
The Fifth Element
Lord of the Rings (all of them)
The first Star Wars Trilogy (which is to say Episodes 4-6)
Sahara
Star Trek: Insurrection, First Contact and Nemesis

I can't really choose my best one but I'd say the following ones are up there on my top list:
Memento
Perfume
The 5th Element

I'm sure I'm leaving some ones out but I can always come back and add to the list :)

Oh... Red... I still gotta see Casablanca and the Godfather movies (I've been told I haven't seen ANYTHING till I've seen Godfather) but I gotta agree on Flight Club and Pulp Fiction.
Oh... and since we've got some old movies on the list.... and I know this movie is soooo gay but I just think it's awesome:
Thoroughly Modern Milly

Re: Best movies that you have seen?
5th Element was a great movie, i agree...
Well, most of Luc Besson's movies were great
I prefer comedies over movies...
I dislike the horror movies... Those all end the same
What? They all die in the end. Or one person survives.
I'll just list those that REALLY kept my eyes open, or those that i love to watch:
-Tenacious D : The pick of destiny
-Beverly Hills Cop (all of them!)
-The butterfly effect
-Jackass (1,2 and 2.5)
-Final Fantasy VII : Advent Children
-Ace Ventura
Yip, i do like classics over the new ones ;3

An interesting selection you have there, the Butterfly Effect was an interesting film, the ending is something that made you think though.

Re: Best movies that you have seen?
I might keep an eye out on it then, might be interesting to see how a movie could become a sequal of the first original Butterfly effect, unless it is a completely different storyline based on the same idea as the first film.

Re: Best movies that you have seen?
Ah, this makes me a bit worried in a way though, I feel that the idea would be too identical to the first one that I would almost be like watching the first one way or other. But hopefully I am wrong in this case.

Only the headache and changing the history occurs. Seems just like the motive is repeating but probably nothing too identical.

Oh let me know if you do.... I suppose I like it because I saw it a lot when I was little. It's really not everyone's thing but I loved the pure gayness of it all (the traditional meaning of the word).Red wrote:I loved 5th element as well, very well made and entertaining to watch! Also, have you seen Memento? It's one of the cleverest movies ever

That is because the American way for spelling it is "favorite" without the 'u'. So I think the spell checker is on the US standard.ShyWolfie wrote:PS. Is it my browser or this forum telling me "favourite" is spelled incorrectly?

Re: Best movies that you have seen?
I watched the third Resident Evil recently. It's good in terms of having the usual action and gore but to me it was disappointing as I could barely see any of the storyline in it.
First thing I did with my browser and writing programmes was change the dictionary to British English.Red wrote:ShyWolfie wrote:

Re: Best movies that you have seen?
Some of the movies above that you mentioned are awesome!
Shaun of the Dead and Hot were both great films and funny when it shouldn't be!
V for Vendetta is also another film that was quite good, good to see a recent film that has a lot of thought provoking ideas behind it and making us think about how people control the countries and the possible scenarios that could happen. A must watch.
Cheers, Red.

Night Watch
Hot Fuzz
History Boys
Love Actually
Bladerunner
The Crow
The Craft

Re: Best movies that you have seen?
East Of Eden
Indiana Jones (the whole lot)
Little Miss Sunshine
Scarface
The Host
The History Boys
... Now I think about it, there are quite a few. I enjoy films that have layers which can be peeled away, but I can just as easily be satisfied with big explosions and hair-raising stunts
I tend to avoid things people recommend because I rarely enjoy them. Animated films in particular pose a problem for me because animation is part of what I do, so it's difficult to not take apart the technical aspects of the film. It can sometimes detract from the overall enjoyment, though more recently it's been due to a feeling that Hollywood has run out of juice and the animated stuff is a bit... Gimmicky.

Re: Best movies that you have seen?
I'll agree on the whole Hollywood thing. New movies that are animated are all pretty much the same. They're funny and they keep looking better but there's not too much new coming out. Shrek was nice but then they made a bunch of sequels (even a 3D short). Same goes for live action. Most of them are either sequels or based on a comic (Iron Man and The Dark Knight), book (Harry Potter) or game (Max Payne).

We'll...I havnt seen my best movie yet.
I love super hero movies, james bond, and all the pokemon movies.
I think the closest movie that came to my greatest and favorite is space balls...
though if they make a furry movie I will watch it over...and over...and over again.
