Film references in the things you do
A lot of my life is influenced by films... i reference them often... be it misquoting Sid the sloth, or making use of Head and Shoulders shampoo...
I am currently working on the design for my sona and i decided to pay homage to one of my favorite films from my childhood, 13 Ghosts.
I wondered if anyone else had references to their favourite films, or had a mannerism or phrase they said often, taken from a film...

When I'm in classes I attempt to emulate Dead Poet's Society. Aside from that I tend to reference lines from everything that I know. Pop Culture is a major reference in my life.

Dead Poet's society makes me cry like a little girl... oh wait...
I find myself re-enacting fight scenes from films I watch... and on occasion i have been known to take on the mannerisms of actors and actresses...

Re: Film references in the things you do
I used to reference lots of things from my childhood. Now my sister isn't around so no one gets them...

Last night I referenced "It rubs the lotion on it's skin"... the person on the other end of the convo hasn't seen Silence of the Lambs... it was lost...
I do however reference that a lot... I even listen to the song regarding it

I like to reference The Simpsons and Futurama quite a lot, as well as Star Wars (nerf herder as an insult) and Firefly (gorram).

Hmm...Scratch and I had a laugh last podcast by referencing the Regular Show's OOOOooooooOOOOOh! Actually Scratch and I would tend to have many references to many things we'd talk about. When we talk about small towns we reference Sam and Max's thoughts on "Hobokun" and we just go, "Populatiooooon....varies."
I referenced In Bruges today in class in respect to, "You're a fucking inanimate object!"

Re: Film references in the things you do
Oh wow, and do I reference many... However, most of them from my childhood and teen years so most of my immediate circle of friends don't get the references, for some reason I especially like referencing old adverts and the Simpsons, and of course who could forget "Luke I am you father"...

Speaking of Matthew Lillard, I reference a lot of lines from any movie Matthew Lillard is in. If you know me irl, I'm constantly referencing this man. I love him a normal amount.

Re: Film references in the things you do
I'm constantly repeating tiny quotes I hear in movies and shows, a few examples
"Houston, we have a problem."
"I feel the need - the need for speed!"
"We're not enemies we're rivals."

In my family we love throwing movie quotes at each other and seeing if the other knows where its from.
I'm always a bit shocked when I do it with other people without thinking and they look at me like the idea of quoting movies is just something that has never occurred to them.

Re: Film references in the things you do
I did it today and no one seemed to notice...
Brazilian colleague was back from trip home and told us how it had been raining hard and she thought she wouldn't make the flight because the roads were flooded. I said, "when they built the roads, they had no thought of drainage."

Re: Film references in the things you do
Oh my word, I just watched this movie for the first time this year, I can't believe that flew over my head. Like a, y'know...
Also I deeply feel for the people being bored to death. I have a coworker who is such a nice person, but listening to them is like listening to Oblivion NPC dialogue for 3 hours at a time, no skip option and you already read the entire conversation in 5 seconds at the start.
