Professional animation software now FOSS

Post by Valerion »

The software used by Studio Ghibli and others will soon be available for free, for budding animators.

I hope this will lead to more furry animations in the future.

always thought Futurama was a low shade number 3d render.

Maybe just some of the backgrounds/world animations.

You can already do a lot with parallax alone.

Yeah except it is clear that all shapes changes their 2d projected geometry to satisfy the moving camera's perspective. Just using parallax will not change the shape but rather the movements giving the illusion of depth but still remains 2 dimensional.

I saw that on reddit.

I wonder how user friendly this will be. Will it be more like Unity or UE4?

I've watched the full video and looks like it's almost pretty much like ToonBoom or whatever that was called, only a bit more stuff has gone into it. Which is awesome.

I really think I'm going to download it on the 26th when it's out

Well ToonBoom is the standard out there. If the UI is similar, then no problem.
