I doubt you'd feel the difference between the 920 and the 975

gut feel tells me go for the middle and save on the cost, while sticking with a machine that can do what you need it to

unless you're doing full blown supercomputing i would really not go to that extreme (like quad SLi :p )

Tho next thing i'm doing is telling my boss to go for 12GB of ram (another 6GB of DDR3)

I think it might be a case of too much money. :D Cause I'd get a similar system if I had tons of cash! Though even if I had tons, I'd still chase value/performance.

otherwise, I'm happy with my 6400+ AMD.. Still previous gen and works great ^..^

I gots a new Dell Studio 1555 laptop. Not custom built, or ANYTHING like the monsters mentioned above, but quite decent for most things!

Spec wise:
Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz
4GB RAM
320GB HDD
ATi Radeon Mobility HD4570 (similar to a NVidia GeForce 9600 series)
Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium
4 Years onsite repair warranty
4 Hours battery life :D

It runs Burnout Paradise absolutely beautifully ^^

Wow, that is short. Still at least you know you're out of battery. If I don't realise I don't have power I have just enough time to get into a game of Dota or something before it goes down and ruins what I'm doing.

4GB DDR3 (i'm gonna go to 8 when funds permit)
Xfi Fatality FPS
DTT3500 speakers
26" Acer screen
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case

and no watercooling! :P

amazingly enough SLI kicks my experioance index from 4.5 to 5.1, so SLI makes a difference! :P

Sigh. I need those. I played Crysis and found I was below 20fps at max graphics. I turned it down to high then and it worked pretty well, except for lagging when I spun and it tried to blur everything. Then I got attacked by this giant alien on a ship and the game only played for 10s then froze for 5s, played 10s etc. I checked the System Monitor (crashing Crysis in the process) and found it was using pretty much all my ram, not sure how to check graphics usage though. So I had to turn graphics down to medium for the boss fight. :(

Crysis is probably the worst thing ever, it cant even use 4 cores properly and you need like 2gb VRAM to run all those textures :/

if you get a watercooling kit it's pretty cheap, the coolermaster series, or the thermaltake series, they fit nicely into your case, are not too heavy, and work pretty well.

I'll need to check current pricing, but shouldn't be over R2000 .. i paid less than that for mine a few years ago o.o

Recent upgrade...some might be curious to see the chassis, which I've had and had modified over the last several years. My main PC is currently a Core i3 4GB DDR3 2.5TB w/ 8GB ReadyBoost. More than enough as a work PC - I don't play any games :p

Personally I really hate those type of cases, so obviously chose something more... elegant :p;
