ZAFur Robotwar Team

#1

Post by Adagio »

Hey guys!

I've always wanted to do something like this.
But who would want to start a Robot Wars Team?

Ever since I was little, I was enthralled by RobotWars on TV.
I thought the sport died down honestly.

Imagine my surprise when I saw Randal posting that poster from Geekfest, showing they had Robot fighting as an attraction!

Would any of you be interested in starting a team??

For next year of course!

I wanted to do this so badly as a kid, I even ended up buying one of the licensed Battlebot RC replicas.

As a mechanical engineering student, this sounds most interesting to me! I cannot promise anything or make any obligations at this point, but I shall certainly give it consideration. :D I am completely inexperienced in the field of robotics, however; yet, there is still time to learn!

As much as I'd love to, I have no expertise in robotics save for AI thanks to psychology and learning about AI systems and how they develop to understand psychology more.

So if you want to give it a brain.... don't :P But I would help if I could

There is really little electronics... It's basically an RC receiver, and a control board, driving a (usually) PWM or PPM motor controller...

The rest is mechanics...

But I know nothing of particular use though.
But still!!! Robotwars was frikken epic. If this is legit happening, I won't let an opportunity to be part of this slide past me.

My older brother is maybe going to compete in the robot wars next year at Geekfest, if he gets time to make his bot. He's also considering hosting his own Robot wars at his house.
