Pokémon GO was a fun gimmick, but the only hook to it is running around looking for Pokémon. Catching them once you find them is just a matter of lazily flicking Pokeballs at them.Once you actually catch the Pokémon, your gameplay options are fairly limited: you upgrade Pokémon so that you can battle them in gyms.

The gym battles are shallow and repetitive, and the novelty of the game quickly wears off.

If they want to keep the game interesting, they will need to release more generations of Pokémon; allow trading and breeding; allow player duels; and make the combat system similar to the handheld games, with turn-based fighting and large move sets for each Pokémon.

Indeed, I lost interest pretty quickly. I'd rather play Alpha Sapphire on my DS.

So I've been playing this again since it was officially released worldwide, and slowly completing my pokedex...

And today, they released gen II.

Blah, didn't hold my attention nearly as well as Ingress did. Just never got into it, really. Guess it's not my type of AR game.

I can't even use the AR because my phone doesn't have a gyro.

Wonder how long before this post is removed for possibly implying dog fighting and/or f*@king.

Pshaw, I was merely implying subservience... I could never be a pimp with that hat.

In that case, may it be a great guard dog and socialize it well.
