How does one Second life?
So I felt the urge to smack a 3d model into second life and walk about as such and ect. ect. buuuuut...
I have completely forgot the controls... plus... I have no idea how to upload things >....>
in fact I don't know jack shit.
anyone willing to help me out?
(yes I know its 3am. I am bored and can't sleep)

I suggest you start here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh and look at the links on the right (especially rigged meshes). Best is if you test on the test grid first, until you're happy with your upload. Main grid will charge you to upload textures, and you need that for a mesh look.
You /can/ also create an avatar out of primitives right in the interface, but mesh stuff usually looks nicer. There's also a list of creation tools on the right for meshes.

Secondlife has the oddest weight calculator inside sims. Prims means each block will be counted. While a entire mesh object built in 3rd party software registers as a single prim. However uploading will calculate polygons and charge you in l$ accourdingly.
Also i would start of by downloading firestorm viewer and connecting to tour own opensim grid to try out uploading your own content.
