Civilization 6
This definitely ranks among one of the most inspirational game announcements I have ever seen. It makes me feel good to be human.
Who is excited?

Re: Civilization 6
That showed absolutely no gameplay... But was cool nonetheless.

Although, now a serious comment:
Ever notice how so many strategy games copy what the base of the current civ game is and use that for their games?

Re: Civilization 6
Sean Bean has such an awesome voice.
With regards to the game itself:
Compared to Total War and the Paradox games, Civ is seriously lacking in depth.
I still prefer Civ IV to V, and I think that VI is going to be even more "streamlined".

And then Sev posts and I am immediately reminded how disappointing humanity can be.Sev wrote:With regards to the game itself:

Civ V is much better than Civ IV: the hexagonal tiles, the revamped combat, the new social policy trees, the league of nations, and the revamped religion and espionage.
I wouldn't say Civ is, "seriously" lacking in depth compared to Total War. Total War has a greater emphasis on (you guessed it) war, and everything related to war is much more in-depth yes, but then Total War has no multiplayer asides from skirmishes.

Re: Civilization 6
It kinda does, not sure how many more can do it but my brother and me sometimes took control of two separate factions in Rome 2, like the Egyptians and Gauls and went against each other (It takes a while but we normally played it in the background). He also destroyed me every time.Ryall wrote:Total War has no multiplayer asides from skirmishes.
In terms of the game here I am not so much a Civilization player, I think the games are good but I prefer to make my dudes stab other dudes up close and personal and play grand strategy strategy games like that in the form of board games at my gaming club (where the backstabbing is all too common).
Cool video otherwise. I wish the people who made the Dawn of War 3 trailer would use their animation skills to make a decent movie, I am sure it would be profitable.
It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, especially if you live near him.

Re: Civilization 6
Shogun 2 has the most multiplayer modes that includes the grand campaign map I think.Ryall wrote:But then Total War has no multiplayer asides from skirmishes.
But they do seem to avoid going full turn based multiplayer even though there are games that are similar (blends turn and real time mechanics).
Sword of the Stars had a cool way of making people battle at the same time, so you don't do nothing while the other players battle. (and a short battle time limit)
Its battle time limit is what holds Total War back.
Imagine being in multiplayer game and having to wait for a 1 hour siege to complete somewhere far away on the map.
There is Total War: Arena for people who just want to do the RTS side.

Will try it out when it’s done.

Re: Civilization 6
Civ. 6. Not particularly looking forward to it. Well, it's a game. That being said I do love Sean Bean's voice, but I still prefer the Civ IV intro. "Baba yetu" and all that. Shivers all the time.
Mostly I am looking forward to Hearts of Iron IV by Paradox. I have been waiting for so long... Am so giddy, I just want it right now.
