Tom Clancy's The Division

#1

Post by Faanvolla »

Releases on March 8, 2016

The beta starts on:
Xbox One Jan 28th- 31st
PS4/PC Jan 29TH - 31ST

One can join the beta by going a waiting list, or getting a code by pre-ordering it. Link to site.

I found out (remembered) about the beta happening (game existing) because my youtube subscription list suddenly had a bunch of vids about it after the embargo lifted or some such.

It seems to be more "RPG-like" than "Shootery", meaning you'd have to shoot a guy multiple times in the head, and will have random loot drops, and a progression system.
One can allegedly play the 'campaign' solo or co-op.

Honestly have no idea if I'll like this or not, so I very much want to play the beta to test. I'm preordering it for the code, and then I'll cancel if I don't like it.
Anyone else going to be joining the beta?

Unfortunately for those of you who are picky about your graphics (on console in particular), the developers went about announcing the game in the pathetically dishonest way that those of Watchdogs did: Showing best-case-scenario-but-not-at-all-possible graphical fidelity for the console reveal then months later releasing footage with dialed-back visuals fairly easy to notice. So you will notice a difference between what was originally shown in 2013 as 'console' footage and what you'll be getting on release this year. :ugeek: if that bothers you :P

These are the two best vids I've found so far, recorded on the Xbox version:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kX9qkgscSpQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUo0YOIeok8

While I'm upset with that bait-and-switch tactic (they should really just be honest from the start :/ ), I'm still happy with how it looks and the atmosphere captured within the gameplay vids still draws me in. To me the only thing detracting from what could be a decent experience being the atrocious state of the AI. Basically, as it stands, they're just a bunch of stupid bullet sponges :P

I bought a beta key for R4, so I'm now just waiting patiently for January 28th

Regardless of the graphics, I am quite looking forward to this game!

Although it's unfortunate they've opted for more of an RPG vibe, I seriously do love RPGs, so I mean it's no real loss for me anyway!

Just need to save up some money for the game first.

RPG? This was supposed to be an open world tactical shooter with survival elements. Color me disappointed.

That's why I try to never get overhyped by games. Though I am still looking forward to this game, despite my first impression of it being severely different.

Having not really followed the Tom Clancy games well enough, but seen a few play throughs of The Division, I think it looks good. As a stand alone game I think it looks like a shooting game that would be fun to play if I ever got over how bad I was at Rainbow Six (and it's retarded name).

I struggle a lot with shooting games. Between my conflict of "do I really want to be good at a game that shoots things" to "I want to murder all you idiots, I superimpose my bosses face on you for added pleasure", I struggle to get into them as games. But I will most definitely give this one a go... seeing as I like open world games and "post apocalyptic New York" looks like my kind of playground...

it's like Dying Light, with less Zombies, and a more believable plot line :P

I played the demo of Rainbow Six. o.o And I've heard of Tom Clancey. That good enough to join the conversation?

The first five seconds of that video just convinced me to watch the full thing at some point.

Even if you aren't an Xbox fan, watch Outside Xbox. They are hilarious, and Jane Douglas is cute.

I already do! I watch their lists. Some really cool things and I like all the presenters.

I love putting on their let's Play list and then doing stuff with that sound in the background.

Andy is hilarious
Mike is talented and reminds me of a few guys I've met over here
Jane is adorable, sucks at most games and doesn't care.

All of them make me question my English because they annunciate words so much better than me. they actually finish words.. that's apparently a south African thing, we don't finish words :P
