Need low GPU games

#1

Post by rusted hydra »

As my computer is running animation rendering it is impossible to do anything on it.
Now besides the usual 'do exercise' and 'write stories' and 'drawing random stuff' I have little to keep me occupied and away from... unsavory thoughts...
So its up to my laptop to keep me sane
And my laptop is... well... its okay.
Intel I5-560m
6gig ram
Nvidia Geforce 610m

So I can play a few games but not a lot.
Got mass destruction. (Which is a ps 1 game so no problem running it)
And bout 9 point/click adventure games

Though Nothing that will really 'get the blood pumping' (besides mass destruction)

So I ask: Do you know of any fun games that have low requirements?
Feel free to suggest anything from any category... so long its not point/click adventure games cause I have enough of those >x<

I am biased, but there's plenty of Sonic games that require low CPU and are fun to play

I don't actually know if these games use little resources, but they feel like they should:

Spelunky

The binding of isaac

Gemcraft: chasing shadows (Just mentioned this one because it's on steam. This is actually a sequel to other Gemcraft games, found on armorgames.com. I recommend gemcraft: labyrinth as a great, free game)

(Speaking of... ) Several games on armorgames.com . Flash games usually don't use much at all. I recommend the gemcraft series, if you like tower defense. There's also plenty of puzzle games and strategy games... Some action-ey games, but those are less great in flash game form

I'm going to second the flash games. Some good sites for those are Kongregate, Newgrounds, NotDoppler, and of course Armor Games. I know of plenty more if you like. Also if you feel like some oldies, try Abandonia.

There's something like 20 decades of games that would play happily. Some are available for free.

As much as hotline miami seems like a fun and intense game I would very much not want an eppileptic fit

Also I was never a fan of sonic

And I'll take a look at those others.

Oh yea there is visual novels. I tried one and its.. Eh... When I finished it I might consider more.

You should try Evil Genius.

Even after all of these yeas, it's still super fun.

I'd like to recommend a visual novel: Higurashi when they cry. I made the mistake of watching the anime first, and while it was good, the visual novels are so much better. Wish I didn't have the spoilers of the anime...

I've seen some messed up shit in horror anime, but that scene made me cringe like a little girl. D:

If you can run an emulator. Just play black.
Nearly the best game ever made.

I hate hirucrappy: when they lame.
Partly cause I get exposed to enough sadism inside my own head.

Evil genious... It looks like it would be fun for me, my kind of thing, but when I play it it feels so boring

And black whatsit?

Rimworld! An indie colony building sim. And if I can run it on this toaster laptop (this thing really is shite), I'm sure you can have it running in the background. Not really a game to 'get one's blood pumping though'

Dwarf Fortress is a fun game if you can handle the Graphics, and by that I don't mean if your PC can handle it. :P

If he finds Evil Genius boring, there is no way that he will enjoy DF. That game is niche to the extreme.

Hahaha, ah, fair enough! Just thought I'd throw it out there juuust in case. There is this flash game... Well I am not sure it is a game! Just make sure to turn your volume down a bit if you do play.

I dont know. Evil genious had just so much lacking.
I've seen dwarf fortress, the graphics isnt an issue, see I've played Cataclysm:DDA
I need to make a print out of the controls and try it again

I used to love playing Evil Genius, never thought it lacked much of anything. Though, that was when I was much younger. I still play it rarely now, but most of the enjoyment I get is from the Nostalgia, really I guess!

Cataclysm:DDA looks really awesome! If you can get into Dwarf Fortress you could probably waste a few hours on that, but it is very niche as Sev said.

I love games like Dungeon Keeper and Evil Genius. They just scratch a certain itch.
