Elite: Dangerous

So its in beta now. I'm interested in purchasing it, cause its a spaceship game, and have seen videos on it. But I've never played an elite game before.
Anyone here heard of elite? Or going to get Elite Dangerous?

Edit:Wait. Never mind. I don't have directX:11 on my pc (I think I have DX10) So I have to get a new graphics card before I get it

The original Elite was one of the most well regarded space combat games *ever* made.

I am eagerly anticipating the sequel.

A near infinite amount of places to explore? Amazing graphics? Awesome gameplay?

though it is a R800 price tag. But that would be to get beta access now so price will drop the moment it goes release... hopefully

Yeah, the beta has such a steep price tag so that only people who are actually wiling to contribute to the game's progress can actually play it at this early stage.

I've been playing this for a long bit and loving the game

Now to why I post:
I just made a realization after buying my first ship upgrade in Elite:dangerous
My new ship makes me think of a fish.



Feeesh...

Also one point as I dropped out hyperspace two AI ships followed me
AI 1 "We've been looking for you"
AI 2 "That's the one I want, the one with the big hull"

and proceeded to do what any smart fish would do and run away to the space station that immediately blew them up

I could be mistaken but I am pretty sure Accretion/Inpw plays/played Elite...

I also play now and then. Have they added group mechanics yet?

Yea you can make a wing and fly in a group. But not too sure about internet connectivity. I've only been playing solo, damn AI filled galaxy is chaotic enough for poor fish
