Forgotten Music
This thread is for posting stuff which gives nostalgia.
I have a serious arsenal of guilty pleasure songs which just disappeared with the times and would like others to share the same stuff. This thread should become the best music playlist ever.

"You Can Call Me Al" is a great song.
I may need to listen to the rest of these.

Re: Forgotten Music
If we're talking nostalgia, this is pretty much non-negotiable. There was a time I actually knew the entire pokérap!
And what thread of nostalgic music would be complete without this?
And this one, too. Ahhh... those carefree high school days when I should have been studying for exams, but instead spent all my time memorizing hand seals. Snake! Tiger! Boar! Horse! Tiger!
Ooh! And Trigun! Sixty billion double dollars, bitches!! Trading old, scuffed up DVD's back and forth with like, the only other person in the entire bum-fuck town who even knew what anime was.
Ooooh!! And the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh!
IT'S TIME... TO D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-DUEL!!
Oh shit! And Medabots! Rokusho used to be THE most badass robot in all of fiction in my sparkling, teenage eyes...
And Samurai Pizza Cats! Oh my word!
And Beyblade! It was so stupid, yet so awesome!
And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I used to beg my mom to rent these same old-school VHS's over and over again. This was back when Raphael was actually cool, cracking jokes and sarcastic remarks instead of just being an angry douche.
Oh! And Power Rangers! It was so cheesy, but the opening still rocks, in my humble opinion.
Bouncing here and there and everywhere...
Anybody still remember this?
Or what about this? I remember I named my hamster after Deputy Fuzz!
Oh, and Spiderman! I remember thinking that the electronically distorted voice was just the coolest thing ever.
And X-Men! I'll always remember this particular one because it was playing the very first time snow ever fell on the ground in my home town (to this day it remains a freak occurrence). It was so bizarre, watching the snow coming down while this played in the background.

Ah, Quake II... the game where you spend more time shooting at random lights than enemies, looking for secrets.
Does anybody still remember this little gem?
Fireball was my favourite.
That whip crack!

Re: Forgotten Music
These shows... These songs... it helps me to forget and go somewhere better.
No matter how many fucked up things are happening, these worlds were a reason to live.
Sad i know. but those people in the show are so much more reasonable than real people.
Nothing gives more relief than sticking your head in that TV or PC screen.
Except maybe heroin but i hear it does not come with an awesome theme song.
Have any of you had the fortune of seeing this one?
That X-men theme would drive me up the wall as a kid.
So damn cool.

Re: Forgotten Music
I remember Stargate! Teal'c was my favourite.
I also remember that I was super annoyed by the title. If the "SG" stands for "Stargate", doesn't that mean the show was essentially called "Stargate Stargate 1"?
You guys remember Spider-Man Unlimited?
I used to have this weird obsession with Git Hoskins, quite possibly the most obscure Marvel character ever conceived. I used to watch with rapt attention, hoping they would show Git, but he was usually just delegated to the background, and only had something like two meaningful episodes, which totally bummed me out as a kid.
We need a Git Hoskins movie!! >.<

Re: Forgotten Music
The SG1 refers to the main team.
There is a SG2, SG3, 4 ect...
Although in Atlantis they just called them "First Atlantis Reconnaissance Team"Certain teams have special duties within the Stargate program. When Stargate Command was formed there were nine SG teams created, and at present there are at least twenty-five. The majority of the teams are Air Force, with some Marines and civilians. A very few alien beings have also been allowed to join.
I guess Stargate AR1 sounded too dumb.

It may refer to the team, but the "SG" still stands for "Stargate", doesn't it?
As for nostalgic music, it pretty much fried my brain when I realized I had last listened to this one more than twenty years ago. X_X

Re: Forgotten Music
I'm not certain about this, but i think the reason why the writers went for that is because of US Air force Naming conventions.
Or it my be because it came out during a time where Babylon 5 and Deep Space 9 was out. (I know in Star Trek they just say DS9 to cut the sentence short)
The bad guys in SG1 also rever to the team as "thee" SG1 team.
I do agree they could have done much better with the title. I would have have gone for "Stargate - TNG" before SG1.

Re: Forgotten Music
If we're talking about old-school sci-fi series, then we have to add Farscape to the list.
Personally, I think the intro theme is actually pretty bad, but at least it's distinctive.

Re: Forgotten Music
Excuse me? This thread, quite clearly, only had two requirements from the start, and those two requirements were 1: be music, and 2: be nostalgic. You can't expect everyone to have the same idea of "nostalgic music" as you, especially not when the topic is so broad and means so many different things to different people. If you wanted this thread to be limited to music only you find nostalgic, then maybe you should have been more specific in the outlining of your original post.

Do you consider any of the stuff you posted to be part of a super duper awesome playlist? If so cool if not then you see what I mean. This thread should become the best music playlist ever.

Re: Forgotten Music
Of course I do. I wouldn't have posted them otherwise. In fact, several of the songs and openings up there actually are part of a playlist I listen to when I'm relaxing, or sometimes when I'm editing. (Except for Farscape, of course. That one was just silly.)
I apologize for my non-chillaxed response. I would, however, like to make it clear that the reason for my annoyance (knee-jerk though it may have been) was not because you were trying to steer your thread into a certain direction, but rather because the way you went about it came across as being incredibly condescending. Please note, I'm not saying you are condescending, merely that you came across as being condescending, and I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but rather a case of misinterpreted intention on my part, for which I also apologize.
