Rate the Cover/Mashup

#1

Post by Ivic_Wulfe »

So! We have rate the song and I was thinking, since there are so many covers out there, we have a rate the cover section. Post the original work first and then either the cover/mashup of that song. The person below gets to rate the cover against the original and then pos their own original and cover!

Essentially for this, have a look at whether the cover does the original justice.

(Slowly getting off my Halestorm obsession however I'm still gonna post some epicness)

I find them pretty similar, considering it's among the heavier Beatles songs. Personally I like it, except for the female vocals, it reminds me too much of Dana Fuchs in the Across the Universe film.

I'm going to be honest, I've listened to the Alien Ant Farm cover way more than the original smooth criminal. Those guys used to be one of my jams from way back in grade 7. Jeez that was so long ago. So listening to this brings back quite some feelings, which is why I'll naturally say that the cover totally does the original justice. Good tunes.

Here's my contribution, I know I've linked this song somewhere else on the forum before, but here is is again, with the Metallica tribute.

Frankly, I've always loved Metallica's rendition. I actually heard it before I watched The Good the Bad and the Ugly. But both are good.

Sometimes I manage to find many little metal covers of some of my fav songs that do the song soooo much justice, here are two metal/rock covers of epic Disney songs:

Necromancy! Because why not?

I love this cover, because the issues brought up are just as relevant now as they were then. It's a beautiful tribute to Dolores O'Riordan, in my opinion.
