Slipknot Releases First Song in Six Years.

Post by Sev »

I have listened to it a few times, and am actually pleasantly surprised. The heaviness brings me back to Iowa, which is a refreshing change from All Hope is Gone (which I do still like - just not as much).

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Wow not a bad song but also nothing special actually. It got really boring, really fast mainly due to the following:

I honestly hope this is the youtube video but the guitar tone and vocal EQ sounds terrible and light. It's not heavy at all unless you consider Corey's growling as being something heavy then... we'll... good for slipknot. :? Musically it did almost nothing to me, no dynamics, the chord is boring and resolves why to quickly without any addition or removal in alternate sections of the chorus. Didn't dig the vinyl scratch effect as it sounds so under mixed that it might just as well be Gross beat from image line smacked as a plugin over the vocals in there and played at really low volume.

Let's just hope this is them getting back on their feet and that they might release true wonders like Wait and Bleed again.

Could have been part of my rate a song thread but anyways.

Yeah, but then I would have had to rate a song, and I'm terrible at that.

Look, it doesn't touch songs like Wait and Bleed, and Vermillion. It's merely decent, and would have been perfectly at home on Iowa. I still like it, though, and the chorus is really catchy.

It sounds like slipknot got bored of waiting and fucked linken park to make a love child while waiting for a record to be produced in the background.
A lot has happened since they last put out an album.
They better have something better than this or they are just going to start sounding dated.
Really sad. I liked them.
I'll still listen to it, but it's probably not going to be my favie

Arg, damn, the video has been marked as private.

It can still be listened to on their site (http://www.slipknot1.com).

It still plays for me with no problem. It's not bad but not really the sort of thing I listen to these days. Maybe if I were really angry I'd go for it.

They have released their next song: The Devil in I. It's a bit more mellow than the negative one, I prefer it a fair bit.

After having listened to it a few times, I think that I can consider it among one of my favorite 'Knot songs. It's completely epic.

What, Slipknot are often referred to as "The 'Knot"? I am far from the first person to do that.

Oh, yes, I get you now. That's such an obscure homograph, though.

Wow, even mate and "mate" are a worse one than that.

They have just released their next song: http://show.co/mER9Rkl

I have to say that this is really one of my least favorite songs from the band. It'll probably end up being just as controversial as Disasterpiece - but at least that song had some redeeming features.

Weird how so far the two songs both "The Negative One" and "The Devil in I" remind me heavily of an album, namely, St Anger. >_>; I wonder if Slipknot are doing the same thing Metallica did

Similar riffage.

Have you listened to the rest of the songs yet? They're actually quite varied.

I've listened to some Slipknot and I enjoy certain aspects of their music. But again, I was just saying that the guitars and the overall feel of the music gives me a similar perspective of the issues that Metallica went through for St Anger. I reckon this album will most probably (in some ways) be a breakaway from their usual music and way to make that clean sheet which means thatthe album will be filled with them trying new things, things that many fans won't like. The next album, however, will be absolutely amazing, if they release it.

I actually meant the songs from their new album, not their work overall.

I understand your referencing and I was clarifying my view in respect to it. I was merely speculating as to how the album may pan out. You would know best if my assumption may be correct. :D

Youtube linkage

I love how you think I have the time/cap to download that youtube link. But I'll attempt to find the album and listen to it when I have the chance.

Thanks!
