I used to really be into most metal, now a lot less so, I tend to be in the more into pop-punk, hardcore and indie these days. The metal I listen to these days is usually some of the better -core adjacent bands and some of the weirder fair, like some of the experimental /post black metal stuff, some of the black metal fused with non metal and drone and post metal.

Converge
Every Time You Die - Seen live <3
Gay For Johnny Depp
Deafheaven
Liturgy
Krallice
Wolves In The Throne Room
Devil Sold His Soul
Isis
Cult Of Luna
Sunn O)))
Kylesa
Baroness
Kvelertak
Agalloch
Alcest
Mastodon
Windir

Granted these are just off the top of my head. Also I'm just going to add that A Day To Remember are a great pop-punk band

I've never understood the appeal behind Sunn O))), I really don't have two hours to listen to a single track.

I think I should mention that by the time I finished high school I had had zero exposure to any music but extremely select classical music (thanks, dad) and a few hits from the 60s (thanks, mom). My man introduced me to real music, but I feel like there is just so much to take in that I've clung to a few very diverse artists I happened to like when I first heard them. Quite a few of them were metal, but I wouldn't be able to tell you which sub-genre or artist. It seems too daunting to even try to find exactly what I like, because I like everything.

Metal forever \m/
I listen to anything from DSBM and funeral doom to brutal death really - categories are categories. Like Shakespeare said, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" ^__^

I have always thought that the point of metal is it's energy, it's excitement. Doom metal is... well, it's doesn't really have either of those things. :|

I think it's good that there's a variety in metal... Doom lacks those points, but meh, it fills in those spaces with a good atmospheric feel

Not really a metal head, but grown to have a greater appreciation for metal than before due to living with Ivic.

I don't really listen to much metal anymore, but I used to.For the past few years I've mostly been listening to darkwave, dark ambient and EBM. Having said that I did enjoy the following bands a few years ago :
Paradise Lost
Ghost Brigade
Katatonia
Opeth
Oranssi Pazuzu
Mostly gothic, black and melodic death metal.
