Still single, no plans to ever pair up again, tried it once since my breakup in Feb last year and he also ended up cheating on me less than a month after we got together so yeah... Never again.

The universe is a wonderful place, and I believe religion has a role in it. It's when people abuse it that it isn't good... There are many types of Christians. Those who know the bible and live according to it, those who think they know the bible and spam the few lines they've read, and those who simply call themselves Christians because they haven't actually thought much about it, and have just kinda gone with it...

In any case, congrats Adagio. You deserve a special someone :3

See, this is the good side of Christianity. I applaud you, Sir. The problem is too many of us have had confrontations the bad side and we all tend to generalise a little too much. Also, congratulations! :D

This is going to make me unpopular, but I view organized religion as antiquated and often harmful. One needs only look at what is going on in the Middle-East to see what happens when there is no separation of church and state.

I find it really funny that a religion that teaches tolerance can be so intolerant. Back when I still went to church, I was "friends" with one of the church leaders; he would often take me out to coffee, where we would talk about our place in the world and such. I can only imagine how he would react if I approached him now and told him that I am in a relationship with another guy.

And to quote Scar Symmetry: "our invented gods halt the active mind". Science is convergent, religion is divergent. That alone should tell you something.

I just watched that Noah movie.

The bible always made that seem so boring.
I guess they shouldn't have left all the pictures out.

Thou I think we digress now,
Anyway back to the topic of relationships.

^^im wondering if he was being humorous xD

@ helios: Also, the film apparently twisted 'truths' a bit to make it more entertaining and more dramatic, so I doubt it was depicted even the way Christians would appreciate it, buuut as long as it was entertaining :D

Come on. If the bible had mentioned that methusala looked like Anthony Hopkins with a flaming sword and that Russel Crowe built a giant boat with Emma Watson and some Lodestone elemental golems...... sales would go through the roof.

That's the problem with all these documentaries.
I for one had no idea that New Zealand had such a large orc problem until I saw the lord of the rings.
They could really clear that up in the marketing.

Worst of all is now I hear that they will be filming the new star wars movies in London.
How do they expect to even sell ticket?
These movies are going to suck compared to the last ones that were filmed IN SPACE.

Can't disagree more. I saw that movie this weekend and thought it was awful. It changed so much stuff that it completely failed as a Bible story. I may be anti-religion but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a Bible movie that's done well, for example The Prince of Egypt. Even considering it as a fantasy story I found it to do just as badly with poor characters (Noah's the only one worth caring about and that's probably just because he's the focus), massive plot holes and some questionable CGI (despite some amazing photography).

Not necessarily, some beliefs evolved from superstitions which sometimes provide useful advice. For example the "no pork" rule came about when there were disease epidemics among pigs and would avoid one getting sick.

@ Rakuen.
I do agree with the plot holes.
When methusala gave Noah the Eden seed I did totally call hax as I have heard the fairy tale before and I know that wasn't an original quest level item.

Animals were put to sleep and didn't eat once for almost a year.
(If you actually read the book, there where seven of each animal. Only unclean animals went two by two by the way so that was a massive continuity balls up from the start but I do applauded the cgi team who made the entire migration culminate at the ark possible despite the animals living on different continents and having greatly varied walking speeds)
Some of the footage looked like it was stolen from old documentaries and used as background footage, but I didn't exactly pay to see it either so I dont really have the right to complain.

It already isn't the case with mixed fibers, divorce and gay marriage in places. I think patience is key here, people realise these things slowly as a whole. Religion isn't bad when it provides a moral backbone to people.

Damnable religion foiling my evil plans with its morals and nice people

I'm already seeing a decreases in religious nut jobs claiming that we are all sinners and judgment day is coming and an increase in Atheist nut jobs claiming that we are all stupid and YOLO

Yay progress :D

While I believe that polite religious debate (which I saw here) is a good thing, I think it's a bit off-topic for the thread. I would encourage you to open a separate thread for this discussion.

Congrats Leeward! Four years is no joke, and from what you've told me, you and your bf really do relate to each other on many levels, which is great!

On that note, VoxLupus and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary on Monday (14 July)!
Some of you may even recall VoxLupus's announcement at the beginning of 2012:
VoxLupus wrote:Okay guys. I think it is time I broke the news.
If you followed the forum closely you probably already know and I have told a few people, furs and non-furs alike.
This is mainly for the stragglers who don't bother to check every thread and don't catch all the updates. Don't feel bad though; I would probably fall into this category too. :P
Well anyway, although the news isn't braking, I think it is about time that I made a statement on the forum.
For about 6 months (exactly in 2 days time) I have been in an 'official' relationship with someone I met on this forum. It was a long distance relationship but that has not seemed to be too much of a problem.
I say 'was' because in a few days time I will be moving down to Cape Town. :D
I have been accepted into UCT to study and have comfortable accommodation there with a school friend. :)
So I am in a comfortable and happy relationship with the one you know as 'Ryall'... Me, I am happy to call him 'boyfriend'.
Love you lots you silly hyena!!! Looking forward to seeing you again REALLY soon. ;)
<3

P.S. I think it is about time you changed your 'Sexual pre-fur-ence' field; you aren't fooling anyone any more :P
I am pleased to say that 3 years on we still love each other dearly, and are hoping to move in together as soon as we are both working. :D

I guess we owe ZAFur a big thank you! None of this would have happened had I not stuck around on this intriguing forum with its wonderful denizens for like a year until VoxLupus joined.
Hahaha!

So... I told Ryall I don't want to do this... But he kinda talked me out of it. So here goes.

Last year, just before my birthday, I discovered something about myself, that I never ever thought would happen. But looking back. It's quite obvious...

I realized, I was gay...

It was probably the hardest time of my life. Coming to terms with being the very thing I fought so hard against when I was still new to this fandom...

But when I started looking back at my life... I guess... It's always been there... But with all the conditioning I had to go through, growing up. I had repressed it... Because, "being Gay was a choice. It's a matter of how you are raised"
Needless to say, getting out of that mindset was the most painful thing I had to go through in my entire life.
And there were things that happened along the way that just made it that much worse...

Sev was one of the first people I entrusted this information to... He was the first that suggested this to me even. And when he died...
Rest in peace man. I will never forget you.

Anyway... I made some mistakes. Followed some bad advice along the way. But eventually, I followed my own path, and found my way.
Tocs and I have been together for just over 2 months now officially. Unofficially; a bit longer.
And it's honestly the happiest I've ever been!
I'm around Tocs, and I just feel so comfortable.
I feel like this is where I'm meant to be. And it's amazing.

You are one powerful necromancer, Adagio: this thread was 4 years old! I respect that.

Anyway, I talked you out of not wanting to not do this? Well that's confusing. I hardly consider one vague line in a post 'talking you out of it' but very well, I am glad you liked my post. :P

Interestingly, Sev joined the forum in a very similar manner to you: he was blatantly homophobic in his threads. I spoke to him and it was only later he confided in me that he was gay. I also joined the fandom, telling everyone I was straight and irksomely arguing with anyone who said otherwise. Aaron Pictus too.

Speaking of whom, there are at least two furry couples on this fandom who have not yet registered on this poll! Now's your chance. :P
Hahaha!
