WARNING: Aggressive Contact List Harvesting Email

If any of you received the "Dear Friend" email from me, I apologise deeply.

It seems that this email and the associated website, if visited while
logged into gmail, allows the site to send out a spam email of itself
to all members of the viewer's gmail contact list. Alas, I was stupid enough
to click on the link, as it came from someone I know, and as such I
thought it was something of import or at least relevance.

The website to avoid is Honesty1 dot com. Do NOT go there.

I feel a fool, and am greatly concerned now about my account's
security, but I feel I need to alert you all, both to apologise and to
attempt to foil it's progress. The more people that know about it the
better.

Ya might wanna install some Anti-OMG devices, like Ad-aware, Spybot or MS Defender.

Avast is also pretty good, though thats an anti-virus program with a exploit blocking monitor.

You were on my contact list dracs, did you get anything from me? I know denim got something from me, and I want to try track down a list of emails it sent to so that I can send out warnings and whatnot to them too, but Denim deleted the email when we discovered the problem.

I've just run spybot on my system and it can't find anything beyond the usual cookies.

I only have about 3 contacts on my email 'cause I don't send much. Usually just get notifications of story uploads and stuff through mine.

I must have got at least 20 over the last few months. The sender is always different and the wording as well. The format though is always identical with a bunch of rubbish at the end. I keep marking them as spam. I use Yahoo. Anyone know what they are?

Nope, I didnt get anything from you. I'm quite strict with my e-mail, so unless I know someone is going to send me something or I'm expecting a reply, I just never open it and automatically add the sender to my growing banlist of over 500 spam addresses (I had to ban each on individually).

Edit: Lol Raki! You know how many times I've clicked submit, only to just see the page refresh then your new post appearing in the thread all of a sudden XD *counts* probably like 4 or 5 times, lol.

I usually open emails. I trust Yahoo to screen them all. Probably a bit naive but hey. If they rubbish then I mark them as spam and I guess they get blocked.

I get similar emails to what Raki described in my Hotmail, but they all automatically get tossed into the Junk folder. I delete them without opening them.
