Which Super Rugby team do you support?

With the 2018 Super Rugby season almost here I was curious as to what teams my fellow furs support.

Hopefully this year will be the Stormers year but the NZ teams are still just a skill level above us.

With Toetie gone that puts some added pressure on the franchise coaches to make sure players have the skills required by the next Bok coach.

I can't relate to the concept of supporting a sports team. You're not actually doing anything for them unless you buy a stadium ticket (and even then the money mostly goes elsewhere), and yet you celebrate their victories and lament their defeats? That doesn't make any sense to me. Betting, sure, playing even more so, but not supporting. In my opinion, spectator sports are an industry that sells a (false?) sense of belonging; the entertainment is just a by-product.

Yes it is i checked . I enjoy discussing the technical parts of the sport even tho Ive actually never played it myself.

Completely agree with this I never go into the superfan mindset that so many die hard fans do. The part that entertains me is watching the skills of individual players develop and when a team pull off some some amazing set moves and then analyzing it to see how it all fits together.

Er well okay... As "causes" go that bring people together, sports could possibly be one of the most harmless. Why not allow folks to enjoy a harmless activity like watching sports and being enthusiastic about the teams they support? It would be shitty for the sportsmen/-women if no-one cheered while they played and "fame" is probably a motivation for some to actually train hard enough to reach provincial/national level.

It is shallow. It is pointless. It is a marketing machine. But it is also fun. Let people spend their time & money without judgement. (Truly millitant supporters are... strange though. More like a religion than a hobby in those cases)

As for myself, I love attending live matches (especially cricket) despite not having any real interest in the sport/outcome. There is usually a great vibe in the stadium.

Haven't been to a rugby match in recent years. Just by virtue of geography and my favourite colour, I follow the Blue Bulls. They will reeeeaaaally need to pull up their pink socks or risk losing their more diehard fans.
