Importing liquor?
Importing liquor?
I'm looking to do something special for my dad, and I was hoping to revive a cherished memory of his. The only problem is, it's not imported into SA. It's a French/Swiss liqueur, Suze (https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/7356/suze-liqueur), although I'm not sure whether I should get that one or the supposedly "old flavoured" Suze Saveur d'Autrefois (https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/219 ... dautrefois). I've tried contacting several liquor importers but none of them ever get back to me. Any suggestions on how I can go about procuring this particular booze?

Re: Importing liquor?
The site you linked to seems to recognise South Africa. If it was me, I'd send them a note asking if they ever had delivered to SA, and what the procedures was. I'd import it directly, and make sure it's sent by a courier, not via SAPS. I can't find any specific cite that it's illegal to import for personal use, but then ... who knows with SARS. You are allowed 1l duty-free when you travel into SA and have to declare the rest, so I am pretty sure it's importable.
Just make sure the courier is actually willing to carry alcohol for you, not all do.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

If you'll pardon the pun.
