Could you disappear?

Post by Raven Song »

I could.

Abandon all this. Just up and leave. I've done it before. Just drop everything and go.
Become a stranger with no connections. A hermit. A lost soul.
Or maybe a found one.
I could.
No contact.
As long as I can afford coca cola I could be happy.

Just to disappear.

Remember: it is always better to run towards something than away from something. If you are just running away, who's to say you're not running from one monster straight into another?

Being in a whole new place doesn't fix your problems. It just presents you with a whole new list of problems. Nowhere is perfect. Generally speaking, it's easier to deal with old problems than new ones

And if you really wish to disappear, be sure that there are many who will miss you...

this one time i was a hobo, it was fun and i actually ate better than when i had a home. not sure how homelessness would work in the UK tho, lot of edible plants there? and don’t it rain all the time there? i guess water won’t be a problem then at least.
Duck face? i thought they were all just making fart noises when posing for pictures...

I've thought about running away before. It's almost like a lesser form of suicide. If only there weren't the bunch of people who would be terribly hurt by me doing so...

The thing, Raven, is that it is almost impossible just to become a "lost soul" with no emotional connections whatsoever, for the simple but indisputable reason that people care about you and will - no ifs or maybes, but will - worry about you and wonder where you went. Hell, I don't know you as well as some others, but even I would be concerned - how much more so family and friends who are closer? It also goes both ways: no-one can just forget about the people that matter to them when running away.

Years might pass and a few might give up, but I can assure you there will be people who will hold on to that hope and concern until either you return or the police find your body.

So if you want to run away from problems, please, first see if there is not a better way to deal with them. Running away is not as romantic as fiction makes it out to be.

I'm not sure I am planning on running away. Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not. I like Leeward would constantly be thinking of all the people I leave behind. Including you guys (even you mister Raptor, I am rather fond of you).

Animew I do think if I run away it won't be to the UK. It's bloody freezing here. I'd catch a flight elsewhere, somewhere bigger. Somewhere less urbanized in it's rural areas. Somewhere currently run by a large orange wearing a hamster for hair. Yes... easier to disappear there.
Plus, florida.

I also just wanted to see if anyone else ever wanted to run away... Leeward has.

I know how I would do it.
It would take a few months. I'd save up a bit of cash. I'd go to heathrow. Id leave my phone. Id buy the cheapest ticket i can find. And go. Gone. Whever the winds took me.

Running from problems never works, trust me I've tried.
That said if I could just dissappear and become a hermit I would jump at the chance. A log cabin somewhere in the remote Rocky Mountains or Alaska wilderness, just somewhere where I could be left alone.
Problem though, I'm on too many Meds to ever be able to seriously consider total isolation.
If you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear,
if you've something to hide you shouldn't be here.

I always thought of selling all my static assets and buying one of those small vans that are like tiny caravans on the inside.

Then just go where i want.
I don't know what i am going to do in the long run.
But at least it might make me happier than i am right now.

Know that you would be missed, Raven.
I have sometimes thought about disappearing, too... but I don't think I could ever do that to the people in my life.

I honestly like the internet and technology too much.
And I’d feel too lonely without my boyfriend and best friend.
