Photoshop. Not possible to have a marking of one colour within a marking of another colour like this on a skewbald or piebald horse.

Damnit! Foiled again!

And I would've gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for you meddling ruminants!

Same name, fursona and avatar since I started getting involved in the furry fandom.

But meanwhile you're one of the only people here whose real name is so well hidden a little social engineering can't uncover it. Very suspicious... --_--

Well I do have some enemies, some of whom are not exactly mentally stable. Also sometimes I get creepy messages about how people can't find out who I am offline. So it seems keeping it that that stuff is not so easy to find is a good idea.

You have enemies? I can't imagine why.

I'm not sure which is funnier: that you have something to hide, or that you think I'm the creepy one for pointing it out.

So even some light googling of my real name will somehow lead to furries in some way.

Today I saw Pornhub's userbase being more concerned with mental health than Twitter, Tumblr, 4chan, 9gag ...

Some users were busy talking a person out of committing suicide. Can't directly embed the conversation due to rules, but ... you can click here. (NSFW images warning)

Also, WalkerTexasNutter is an awesome screen name.

Here's a thought I've had today while waiting for the upgrade to complete. If I add a moon phase indicator to the forum, would that be considered favoritism or speciesm?

Not at all Valerion. I think if anything, it could
be considered a safety feature: users must know to lock their doors and board their windows on full moons.

The movie, Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets was garbage: it had some of the worst acting and writing I have seen in a long time. Dictionaries should refer to Valerian in their usage examples of the word, "fatuous."
Hahaha!

Want a way to expand/melt your mind, but out of ... recreational chemical compounds?

Stephen Hawking's doctoral thesis is now available for free, titled "Properties of expanding universes".

I find it interesting that the whole thing is type-written, but all the equations are written in by hand. Of course, this was 1966, before LaTeX and similar tools existed.

How did the Romans actually come up with the idea to make fountains?

Had to look this up so I don't lie to you by misremembering. Gravity is a wonderful thing - it powered all ancient fountains. And modern homes in cities.

Fountains are known from 2,000 BCE, designed by the Assyrians, mostly horizontal, though. The Greeks used similar fountains, and because they could get higher pressure they could make quite impressive ones. The idea is simple though, if you have water flowing down an aqueduct, it will spill out the end. Seal the end and make it into a pipe, and you have a spout.

Roman engineering were the pinnacle of ancient aqueducts. Since they had very high-pressure water, I guess it didn't take them long to figure out they could make a waterspout vertical. The rest is simply a combination of art and engineering to make it look impressive.

The rivers near Rome were not good enough for the growing city.
So they build aqueducts that transported water from mountain springs safely, by just using gravity to let it flow.
The water would then flow into a reservoir in the city and you had to pay if you want to tap into it.
So now it’s in a reservoir, how do you get it out? Either a tap or a fountain.

In the case of the fountain, the reservoir or aqueduct will always be higher than the fountain.
This means that gravity will force the water out at high pressure through the fountains pipes.
So fountains are not a hard thing to discover if your "water source” is higher than street level and most buildings.

I know the Reservoirs and Aqueducts.

But still... it just amazes me. Sometimes I feel like we don't give the "ancient" civilizations the respect they deserve.

In some cases. Very few and rare cases.

I am speaking under correction, but the aeration provided by the fountains also kept the water from going stale/bad. The constant tumbling discouraged algae & other nasties from proliferating. I don't know if this was an active consideration though. Maybe fountains are just purdy. 💙

PS Also consider that the ancient Romans figured out how to make some of the strongest concrete ever. Modern science has still not been able to replicate it.

Actually, while this image is obviously photoshopped you do get patterns and near perfect images in Piebald and skewbalds dependent on wether they are tobiano, overo, tovero or saving pqtterns. Dependent on which is their base colour and the % of the colouration.

Equine colour genetics are fascinating and there have been cases of the image of the African continent and even horse shaped patterns being found in horses. I must find you the warmnlood who has the mutation saving, a genetic modifier which causes an excess of white hairs on the legs, face and parts of the body. He has a near perfect heart shape on his body.

I'm going to go find it.
