Religious fundamentalists might be offended by me for laughing at this.

Just a warning and being PC because that's the way things are now and I tend to cause shyte.

It's people like this that make my religion look bad...

I don't like Pokemon... I don't care for it...
But really? Demons?

Amongst all the nonsense there the part that really stood out to me was that he seems to think you need an app to find churches. Churches are on all the maps. All of them. Terrorists don't need to make some weird app to try and find churches.

Yes I also wondered that but given his ramblings there is no question regarding his state of delusion.

3 minutes 40 seconds going from virtual creatures to virtual demons to Real demons visible in churches through your mobile device to leading people to cause harm to religious leaders using pokemon go.

This guy should play doom so he can blast the brains out of demon skulls. He'll probably think that is real too and preach how doom is the best game for children to play.

I've met a lot of people just like that pastor. De Doorns is full of old biddies, religious zealots, homophobes, and xenophobes. According to them, even Liewe Heksie and Moomin are satanic, created for the sole purpose of tricking children into worshipping the devil. When the Pokemon anime came out for the first time in SA (1999? 2000?) it caused a shitstorm like you would not believe. Kids got beaten up in school just for collecting the tazo's that came in chips packets.

Even I got into a fight just for trying to explain to a kid that the symbols (♂ and ♀) on the Nidoran and Nidorina tazo's only denoted their gender, and weren't satanic runes.

The cringe is real. Yeah, people without much knowledge of what Pokemon is have really been up in arms about it for stupid reasons for years... I remember it being a thing when I was a kid in the States.

This is not new.
I remember back in the '90's there was already a lot of controversy surrounding Pokemon.
I'm still not quit sure why. There was never any surrounding Digimon, for example.

And it's not just Pokemon, either. Dragon Ball Z got some flak, too, although not nearly as much as Pokemon, which I find rather weird because, unlike Pokemon, DBZ has some actual violence, gore and death. I remember how a bunch of my classmates tried to "prove" that DBZ was satanic because the dots on Krillin's forehead were a "satanic symbol". I tried to explain to them that those dots meant he was a Buddhist, and they all said it didn't matter because Buddhism was satanism, too. According to them anything that is not their specific brand of Christianity is satanism. So, Hindus? Satanists. Muslims? Satanists. Every single group under the sun not part of the NG church? Satanists.

Looking back on it now I have no idea how I made it through my teen years. :/

Pokemon was either on SABC 2 or ETV. I can't remember which, but it was one of the free channels. Digimon, however, was on Mnet, which meant that far fewer households were exposed to it, or even knew it existed. That's my theory, anyway.

eTV; Robot Wars Season 1 and 2 were on SABC 2. I used to watch it all of the time.

Even in the US, this was the case, though.

The evolution thing also doesn't count in Pokemon's favor.

It was the same story with D&D, and before that Rock 'n' Roll. There's always some new thing the kids are into that just has to be devil worship.

The best one I have heard about rock and roll was someone who said that it sounds like the devil when one plays the recond backwards.

Do tell, how does one set up a record player to play BACKWARDS?

Same old same old remember that link I sent you via Skype a month or two ago.

"DIS FOKKEN SATANISME!!!!!"

As for playing stuff backwards at school they told me my Pink Floyd is satanisme"
So I reversed it with a computer

Guess how embarrassing when the message heard was:

"Well done on cracking the code send your name to the Pink Floyd fan club at box ..."

Some of Aphex Twin's music has cool stuff hidden in the spectrograms, like spirals, smiley faces, and a picture of his cat. Sounds super weird though.

Anybody remember Tazzos?
Apparently they were quite demonic. A few schools up north burned what was collected by students. They aparently made blue flames when burning, wich was taken evidence of evil powers at work.

I just don't understand that mindset... And it's not even an extreme position. The Vatican has a whole department of exorcists and stuff.

I'd love to get my hands on those scrolls. They'd look cool next to my Book of Shadows and 100 Spells for Everyday Use (which I very sadly had to leave behind in Joburg)
