Workspace Quotes!

#1

Post by Blitzy »

I said it, I'm gonna humiliate myself (If I haven't already) but here it is.

What quotes helps a lot?
I'll post a few.

To improve one's perspective on failure and innovation:

"Failure is an option here. If you are not failing, you are not innovating enough." - Elon Musk

"You want to be extra rigorous about making the best possible thing you can. Find everything that's wrong with it and fix it. Seek negative feedback, particularly from your friends," - Elon Musk

And then my last one that I think everyone should know who plans on making anything:

"One may know how to conquer without being able to do it." - Sun Tzu

Just as a reminder to myself.

"Maximum effort" Dead pool

(And yes, I'm actually serious about this)

Hey, that reminds me of Elon Musk's one quote.

Well it's a good quote. Not specifically about work but a good guide to life.

"The Equestrian Wasteland demands sacrifices. It makes you whittle away bits of yourself until you can’t recognize you anymore. So you find a virtue. You find something in yourself that you believe in, that you do not compromise. Ever. And as long as you can keep that part of you, that one good thing, then you can bear to look at yourself in the mirror each morning. It becomes your anchor, the thing that lets you live with yourself. "
~Monterey Jack, Fallout: Equestria~
"If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind."
~John Stuart Mill~

“Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties.”

"WHY AREN'T YOU WORKING?" - Me

I swear I am not a dragon at work... More like a bear being poked with a stick.

Shoot, you beat me to the Edison quote. I have it written in the front cover of one of my sketchbooks.
Then how about:
"If at first you don't succeed,
Try, try, try again."

I don't really like those quotes. You always see them. Like "A deaf guy was climbing a mountain. Everyone was shouting 'don't do it!' But he couldn't hear them and thought they were cheering so he kept climbing and reached the top. Ignore the negative voices." But ignoring the negative voices is not always a good thing. Sometimes they're warning you that there's been an avalanche on the mountain or there's a minefield up ahead or it's just a dead end. There's a difference between persevering and being too stubborn to admit you're just wasting time and energy.

Fair enough. I suppose it depends mostly on whatever you're doing, and how important it is to you.

In most workplace settings, it makes more sense (in terms of self-preservation) to persevere than to question what you're doing.
