By both parties, I meant both the doctor and the patient. Currently, only the doctor is punished, and the woman walks away without legal consequence. Trump wanted to point out the hypocrisy of that.

While fundamentally I agree with that, the problem is that a lot of the women who get illegal abortions are often impoverished and already have families. Punishing only the doctor helps discourage the practice while not adding the social burden caused by making a criminal out of a desperate woman. This is a pretty difficult situation though and perhaps I am not as outraged with her actions though because other than breaking the law, I don't think what she did was wrong.

The whole point of the justice system doling out such punishment is to discourage the behavior of the action that is deemed wrong or immoral. By punishing the doctor, you achieve this. If you decide to punish the mother, there is a good chance that this is more detrimental to society then just letting her have the abortion. This is one of the reasons I don't think abortion should be illegal.

I was saying he 'must' as in he has to in order to run for the GOP nomination. I wasn't saying that he actually thinks it is wrong.

It's alright, mother, we know that you wanted an abortion because you were violently raped, and that, as a result, every time you would look upon that child, you would be taken straight back to that moment. If the law is written such that it is illegal to provide abortion services but does not specify whether having one is illegal or not then I don't really see an inconsistency.
It would be similar to making selling recreational drug illegal, but not explicitly making the use illegal. Again, the purpose of such law is to discourage behavior that is detrimental to society, not to turn otherwise productive members of society into criminals. Again, I don't think all recreational drugs should be illegal, and I don't think abortion should be illegal, but if it has to be illegal, I think this is a good compromise.

Fair enough, but it is still hypocritical. If the woman is caught doing it for reasons unrelated to rape or incest, she should be punished. And it was for those reasons, neither party should be.

hehe, i can tell you now from personal experience, it causes more kak when a guy that looks like a chick walks into the men’s room. i've used the girls restroom before to avoid the drama of having to prove i'm a guy but its best to go with what’s convenient for you. O_o i mean i really don’t see what the big deal is either way, as long as you are not doing anything indecent it really isn’t anyone else’s business where you do your business.
