ZAFur Accounts Hacked

Hi all. By now most of you will have seen viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3911 .

I have just been on the phone to Rakuen Growlithe this morning, recovering my account.

At 03:48AM this morning, ZAFur's login database was compromised. The hackers gained access to usernames, passwords, and email addresses. I recommend all of you change passwords now.

So far, the attacker has logged into my account, and used it to make posts and send PMs. Judging by the posts, I believe the attacker also gained access to StargazingSerpent.

If you fear your account has also been compromised, or you have any concerns, please direct all queries in PMs to the community reps, Leeward, Ivic-Wulfie, and Adagio.

Also, please advise your fellow furries and contacts to also change their ZAFur login details. If the password you use for your email address is the same as your ZAFur password, you should also change that password.

I have seen this before, on phpBB bulletin boards.
So unless proof is offered to the contrary, I will take it on an as-is basis.

And, FWIW, this is the reason why people purchase VBulletin instead. Free != regular security updates/reviews

April Fools is over and I don't think we are benefiting from arguing and name calling. If people have issues with one another, discuss it with that person specifically through a PM or whatever messaging system you prefer. And if anyone can really not get along then just don't interact with that person.

For next year; please just see April Fools as peoples' light hearted attempts at humour. If you fall for a prank, accept it and move on. If you do prank someone, be sensitive that not everyone who falls for it will take it well.
