Yet I'm guessing you still eat dairy.
I do indeed, but I also eat meat, so at least I'm consistent and don't act all self-righteous about the philosophy of my dietary habits.

I was pointing out that a change in perception can have a profound impact. The treatment of cows is considered perfectly normal because they are "just cows", but the moment they are seen as anything other than cows, it suddenly switches from "normal" to "horrifying".

Many vegetarians have a moment in their lives when they first look at a steak or a pork chop and see not just some abstract food item, but a piece of an animal that used to be alive.

Perception of what is acceptable and what is not, and the fact that different people can perceive the exact same thing in completely different ways. That was the reason I brought up a comic in which cows were depicted as people, wherein the reader is forced to adopt a different perception of the norm and see it in a different light.

I was making a joke...

I have no words. That's just fucked up. That could have been a really poignant message, and yet somehow, it ends up getting Rule 34'ed, and now it can't be taken seriously. What the fuck is wrong with people...

I like how this went from "Does anyone hunt" to "Hunting: 90% think it's not okay" to "Leeward takes offense at something the Japanese have been doing millennia - Sexualising Everything that doesn't (and does) move fast enough"

Where too next?

I'm not offended, I'm appalled. That's like making a porno about apartheid or the Rwandan genocide: it's so sad it's almost funny, but makes me want to weep for humanity because its mere existence implies that enough people get off on that for someone to have gone into the effort of making it.

I don't see why it's such a big deal.

And even if it were not a hentai, it would probably still have rapey undertones to it.

Well that answers that question. Humans are sadistic perverts. What's even worse is how many seem unperturbed by it. I guess I shouldn't be so surprised, I mean, Rule 34 and all, but you'd think the holocaust would be off-limits...

There are games that have done similar things. Skyrim: Dawnguard introduces Castle Volkihar where people are kept as "cattle" for the vampires to feed on. Fallout New Vegas has the White Glove Society which, if you look closely, will lead you to a side quest about cannibalism. But I suppose the best comparison would probably be Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey which, well... just watch the intro.

Off-topic:

Leeward, I had to learn rather, how shall I say it, late in life that, sex isn't a bad thing and its all natural, pretty much like eating vegetables and plants instead of hunting for meat.

While, I can categorically agree that there is bad stuff out there, not all of it is bad stuff. Like most things in life, you get good and you get bad. The trick in life is to find what you deem acceptable, and stay with it, and enjoy it. I unfortunately do not have faith in anything, I am a being unto myself, and I can decide for myself what is good and bad.

Amimals do it, we do it, as for perversion, well, I guess if you do taboo things then yes, that's sick. But that does not mean I will write off my sexuality because of some bad things existing in the world. Throughout history, homo sapiens has proven to be a pretty perverted species....

I'm not shocked about that, at all. I know sex is natural and that a lot of people enjoy porn, and I'm cool with that. I'm cool with whatever weird stuff people are into, BDSM, fetishes, RP, 3+ participants, whatever.

What sickens me is that some people get turned on by atrocities such as torture, mutilation and slaughter. I mean snuff is already illegal, but what kind of sick, twisted monster would actually enjoy that?
