Inspirational quotes

So the idea behind this thread is just inspirational quotes. you know those things people put as their Facebook and IM status even if they don't always know who said it or what it really means. Anyway we all go through many different emotions each day and experience life differently from one another. But strangely enough there is a neat little sentence to sum up everything we are feeling/experience for almost everything type of experience in the world. A little way to sum up the day and give us the little boost we need to either get though it or just to feel like someone, somewhere understands.

These can come from music, books, TV shows, movies or personal communication. they are everywhere, we just have to look. So i'll do the looking and post what i find here.

Enjoy.

Let's start of with a strongly generalized one. one that will appeal to almost every fur here.

Einstein once said - “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited; imagination encircles the world.”

Sir Winston Churchill is one of the biggest inspirations in my life. While he was a racist dick sometimes he was also an incredible leader and England would probably not have done so well in the war... His quotes that inspire me are:

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. (that's why I live the way I do)

History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.

Ghandi is another of my inspirations:

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.

Live as if you were to die tomorrow; learn as if you were to live forever.

And then I have a personal quote I live by:

As long as there is one person fighting for a cause, the cause is as important as any other.

In the same vein...

I happened to be wandering the streets of London today and I found one of my favourite quotes, hiding in a corner of a strange little street:

This one's a little bit long but I really like it:

“Do you think I am an Automaton? – a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup?
And as God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you? I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh: it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at God’s feet equal-as we are!” – Jane Eyre Charlotte Brontë

"Is math related to science?"
- Katy Perry, 2017

One truly has to have an extremely high IQ - at least half that of a Rick and Morty fan - to comprehend the existential challenge this deeply rhetorical question poses.

“When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: the people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous and surly. They are like this because they can't tell good from evil. But I have seen the beauty of good, and the ugliness of evil, and have recognized that the wrongdoer has a nature related to my own - not of the same blood and birth, but the same mind, and possessing a share of the divine. And so none of them can hurt me. No one can implicate me in ugliness. Nor can I feel angry at my relative, or hate him. We were born to work together like feet, hands and eyes, like the two rows of teeth, upper and lower. To obstruct each other is unnatural. To feel anger at someone, to turn your back on him: these are unnatural.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

I recently got Marcus Aurelius' Meditations but I haven't started reading it just yet. There seem to be some interesting aspects to Stoicism. I even signed up for a daily email with things to ponder. It has a lot of good ideas to work on and try put in practice.
