It's no problem at all. :)

You really shouldn't worry about wordcount at all. It's merely a convenient way to classify what type of prose you're looking at.

Short stories are usually around 5000 words or less.

Novels can vary greatly in length. Some are as short as 70 000 words while others can be over a million. If you're looking for an average, bread and butter type of wordcount (not too long and not too short) a good length to aim for is around 150 000 words.

Stories that fall between 10 000 and 50 000 words are sometimes called "novellas".

As for individual chapters, it really doesn't matter much. I usually end a chapter after something climactic happens (anyone who has read my work will know how much I love to string cliffhangers together) or when I need to switch POV or locations. The actual wordcount of the chapter is inconsequential.

Excellent! I remember at school we were taught a chapter should be that needing to switch stuff, but I always get bored and end it prematurely...

But this time I have plotted shit!

four hours on a bus will do that to you!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I look forward to seeing your work

Because sad spelt backwards is das
And das not good
