The Beast Within (Poem)

#1

Post by MrGrim »

I thought since there was a writing section here, I might as well post my poetry here.
I decided to kick it off with the first poem I ever posted online.
Looking at it now I could fix it up but I'm too lazy.
So enjoy (hopefully)

The Beast Within

I sit in my darkening room
Letting the darkness overwhelm me
The walls of my room close around me
Once my sanctuary from pain now my prison

Tell me, can you feel it?
Can you see it?
This obscene obsession
With the moon my mistress

The full moon rises again
My cruel mistress returns
Illuminating my room
My human prison

Tell me, do you feel it?
The pull of the moon
In the middle of the night
Does it wake you?

When you feel the room close around you
When your skin feels like a cage
When your body wants to run, to fly
When your voice wants to howl with joy

Tell me, can you see me?
Can you hear me?
Can you feel me?
In every fibre of your being

Listen to me!
Give in to me!
I am the escape from the pain of being human
For I am the Beast Within
We built this house with our hands, and our time, and our blood
You build this up in one day to fall downward and rust
You built this house with your hands, and your time, and your blood
We built this up in one day to fall downward and rust

I thought it was very good. Well done.

This remains my favourite of all the ones you did, Kitten. Like I said with the one Raki did...you can set it to music. This one somehow feels like it should have a metal edge.

Hehe thankies, I can't actually imagine this put to music
We built this house with our hands, and our time, and our blood
You build this up in one day to fall downward and rust
You built this house with your hands, and your time, and your blood
We built this up in one day to fall downward and rust
