The Dying Ember (Poem)

Beauty of the dying ember,
Longing for the warm December,
The rain cascades as the winter fades,
In honesty I long for love.

Stillness in my every motion,
Silence in every worded notion,
My eye’s seek for recognition,
Finding none I turn away.

Still wandering, prowling darkness,
Searching for the dying ember,
The fading light is all too clear,
Try as I might, I draw no nearer.

Helplessly I howl my anger,
Tearing, rending, falling faster,
Crashing and crushed I fall to the floor,
“It can’t be, not again, NO MORE!”

I stumble and stagger, standing again,
My leg’s nearly give to the pain,
I grit my teeth and begin again,
I continue on in spite of the pain.
